Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

That piece of land has been crying out for redevelopment. They could put a nice new boozer/eaterie on there & it'll be a goldmine. Give Mary D's a bit of competition.
With a big fuck off beer garden!

No decent beer gardens around our ground.

Not enough pubs around our ground full stop.

It’s on!

I’m so happy Sheikh Mansour and ADUG never got bored. :wink2:

The project is Oak View Group’s first venue development outside the US, and follows the launch of the company’s London-based overseas division, OVG International, at the ILMC in March.

If the proposed arena overcomes all the hurdles and protests, it will be interesting to see what the new arena will look like.

A closer look at the proposed Milan Arena. Rest of the article is subscription.

Really don’t see the point of another stadium. We already have the Etihad, the cricket ground. MEN arena, old Trafford - that’s more then enough stadiums for concerts.

How does it benefit local residents either ?

It can benefit local residents by creating lots of jobs. Some of these will be apprenticeships so people have the opportunity to develop skills.

If Oak View (and ADUG/City) didn't think another arena in Manchester was viable, they wouldn't progress with the proposal.

It's obvious that ADUG/City see an indoor arena as another piece of the Etihad Campus jigsaw.

ADUG/City will have a major involvement and say in the new arena.

That aside. As the arena is being built on land owned by City, and it will be located close to the Etihad stadium, it will bring additional footfall and revenues to MCFC and the City Group.

It is not another stadium, it is another arena, big difference. The Manchester Arena was built as a multi use venue with ice rink, basketball court etc which all failed but left it not perfect for concerts acoustically or seating wise. The arena attracts audience from across the UK and abroad, there is plenty of capacity for a second venue of that size, placing it next to the Etihad allows for multi use with perhap city branded teams in other sports, conferencing etc
