This during a piece saying that club’s are encouraged to give feedback. I’d imagine City are certainly doing that right now.

Having said that, it’s good that they may start using common sense, especially on obvious calls like Silva’s non penalty.

Place your bets that the first overturned decision goes in favour of the dippers.....

VAR is very simple to fix.

1. Mic the corrupt cünts up, the decision making process should be completely transparent. No need for post match explanations.

2. Fuck this “high bar/threshold” bullshit off for penalties and red cards. If it’s a penalty or red card just make the “correct” decision, aided by the transparency (as above). If there’s still any doubt the advantage goes to the defender.

3. Handball is only handball if it’s deliberate, if there’s still any doubt the advantage goes to the defender.

4. Offsides under the camera technologies 13.3-38.8cm margin of error (can’t be arsed re-thinking the maths to work out which is correct) should be seen as advantage to the attacker. Update as and when technology improves.

5. Anyone proven to be diving (e.g. no contact, going down prior to contact or the attacker instigating contact) in the box should be immediately shown a red card, banned for 3-5 games and their weekly wage forfeited to charity.

6. Any groups of officials (on-field and VAR together) later proven to make “incorrect” decisions forfeit their match fees for that game to charity.

The ref checking the monitor gives the impression that someone is actively doing something and that the match ref is the guy in charge.

Instead we get everyone including officials ambling around either in the penalty box or even formed up ready for the re-start and wondering what is happening.

We could get ball boys to sprint onto the pitch with the monitors for the ref to speed up the process or here's an idea mic up the ref and show it in the big screens at all but two grounds

2. I don’t agree entirely with the concept of the VAR officials overruling the match ref, especially on 50/50 calls. The problem at the moment is the high bar threshold. The same basic approach works perfectly well in rugby league, the ref makes his call and the video ref only overrules if there’s clear evidence it’s wrong. The difference is that rugby league video refs apply that principle using common sense.

4. 13cm + is too big a margin of error for the vast majority of offside calls. If linemen had been keeping their flags down for offsides of that magnitude there would have been riots. 5 cm is enough

5. Nobody would ever be proven to have dived if those penalties were in place. The inevitable legal challenge would result in the courts throwing it out

I think one of the key points is the top refs are on the pitch, the VAR refs are second or third level so probably don’t want to upset the apple cart. It seems that bar is being used to disallow goals whenever but not correct bad decisions in the attackers favour.

I think with car the offside rule should be feet only as strikers naturally lean forward to look across the line which is putting them offside.

The celebration issue ruling out loads of goals will eventually stop some supporters going to games

We get two celebrate twice now, a muted celebration then a sarcastic cheer when opposition kick off, followed by FUCK VAR song then City City City chant! What's not to love

I'm pretty certain that in the same game we got a penalty go our way for exactly the same thing, it was the only game that season that holding and blocking was clamped down on but the decisions and penalties awarded were both correct.

You fucking can't change it half way through the season! Are they going to give us 2 points for the Spurs pen retrospectively if they lower the bar??? Are they fuck the cheating twats!!!
