They've got a nice bus network on the Ile de Re and the velo-buses this year were free. it might be the bonus that comes from still charging for the bridge!
 
Scrap it and give us an upgrade on transport in the north. Over 90% of central gov spending on transport goes to London and SE.
 
Scrap it and use the money to provide super fast broadband so people can live in nice/remote places, and do their office jobs without having to physically come anywhere near London. The Internet should be enabling flexible home working for any computer /office jobs. This would address childcare, silly London house prices, transport, and allow people to gave a quality of life somewhere with a nice view and no traffic fumes.

There is "overwhelming evidence" that the costs of HS2 are "out of control" and its benefits overstated, the deputy chair of its review panel has said.

Lord Berkeley said the high-speed rail line, linking London and northern England, is likely to cost over £108bn.

A vocal critic of HS2, the Labour peer said he believed MPs had been "misled" about the price - set at £55bn in 2015.

Exactly. Spending obscene amounts of money on yesterday's technology is chronically unimaginative and spectacularly shortsighted, particularly when we're about to see some of the biggest ever changes in the way people work.
