Internationals September 5-10 Euro Qualifiers

Think the calls for Foden are with some blue tinted specs on, he has to be playing more to get into the England side, mount and Maddison are currently ahead of him until that happens. Those two should be starting ahead of the cloggers though
Yes, can’t argue with that.

Going forward England were excellent, Sterling being the star of the show. But there are still concerns with the defence with both Kean and Maguire making mistakes. Imagine if Stones had made these mistakes he would be hung out to dry.

Barkley played bad balls to Stones and Keane to be fair and he seems to be getting off scot free. The “assist to the error” in both scenarios.

Rice fucked up for the 2nd goal, TAA was far too high up the pitch and doesn’t have the pace of Walker to get back in and Henderson isn’t Fernandinho/Rodri in being able to fill in for him.

TAA, Keane, Rice and Barkley are the poorest members of the team. I assume that once Stones is fit, he replaces Keane and TAA will sit out a few England games as a result of tonight. We’re really poor for number 6s, so guess we’re stuck with Rice. Once Mount and/or Foden gets enough PL minutes, Barkley will be benched. Having said that, Maddison should have played tonight.

Who plays as the 6 using those 3?
Well I'm not sure any of them would be on their strongest game in that position on their own but if they are part of a two, any of them could play from deep. James Maddison is the most experienced and physically developed though. The more creative midfielders we have the better, especially ones like Phil who will know the other side of the game the more he plays Pep football(winning the ball back).

It's not only about the starting 11, tournament football isn't about one off games months apart, like friendlies and qualification. Having more than the bare minimum is about competition for starting places between matches and rotation for tiring legs during games. We'd need more than just 2 to compare with teams like Spain or even Belgium.

Agreed, but moving forward, England need a WC number 6 if we are ever going to seriously compete. None of them are positionally good enough to play there.

That bloody Arnold goes back all the time.

WTF is hoddle going on about in this analysis, effectively blaming the wingers for not defending their fullbacks ? Sterling was often in the RB position tonight, and started attacks from there.

Oh and Sterling "shanked it" to set up Sancho, dear god.

Hoddle is and always will be a prize one, horrible human being. You think his second chance at life would have maybe improved him as a human but unfortunately not.
