Missing wall - building advice

You won't understand a word the locals say.....and porridge is boring. Haggis, Blokes in skirts....freezing. ......Magic poles.

Leave well alone. Sweaties as your neighbours ....fuck that.

How the fuck does a gable wall fall down?
Mine did, almost, even though it was a private house the gable started to buckle and the Local Council stepped in, gave us temporary accommodation and helped with the rebuild cost which totalled 3k, my contribution was just £500. It was in the days when building subsidies were around. It was 1986 so I’m guessing it would be around 10k now and no help.

Edit, I don’t live in the house anymore but it’s still standing, 19 Lyndsey Street Stalybridge, had no problem when selling and no further problems, no idea what caused it to buckle originally although my Mrs just told me she thinks it was subsidence and the brick ties snapped, not a fucking clue what she’s on about:-).

Gable walls are known to have issues especially when they take most of the weather blowing at them.

Undermines the mortar and ultimately the bricks.

Damp penetration is a bastard. Can't believe I just typed that.
