Pep Guardiola - 2019/20 Performances

Gundogan was excellent in the run in and one of the reasons we didn't miss much Ferna and Kevin. Remember Ferna missed many games since the end of February. Gundo signed a new contract recently. Foden will get his chances soon, don't worry about that. Gundo contributed more than him last season though and deserved to start the season ahead in the pecking order. These things are important when managing a squad full with quality and winners. But if Foden performs better, he will replace Gundo and Dave in the starting XI already this season.

Foden is still very young for a midfielder. Scholes didn't have a single start at that age and Iniesta wasn't doing better either.

No argument with this but, on recent showings from Gundogan, Foden should at the very least least get a look-in.

I'm honestly just struggling to understand why anyone would think picking our two least mobile centre mids against a team like Norwich would be a good idea.

The midfield we picked can’t run. Norwich has the ideal game plan V us - 1)hope City don’t pick their best player 2) pack the box 3) hope City miss chances 4) run, run and run again and 5) take what few chances come their way

But they also retain possession in their own third and make the opposition work for it. For all their strengths, those two can't press with any real enthusiasm for longer than five minutes. Norwich were probably rubbing their hands together when they saw the lineup and rightfully so.

First defeat in the league since January, obviously the day to start a Pep thread, for him to come and get some bluemoon advice

Fucking amazing isn't it, first loss since January and now our coaches judgement is being questioned by people who really don't know what's going on behind the scenes

Blah, blah, blah, same bullshit being said that is said every time anyone tries to discuss the manager's fuckups.

You saw the result, you saw the performance, if you looked at the title of the thread and thought everyone would be kissing his arse then that's on you.

The sane majority are fully aware that there's nobody better on the planet for us than him but there should be no controversy when we hold him to the same standard that he holds himself and his team.

It's a forum about City and the great man fucked up yesterday. Not really advice is it when even Pep must know he picked the wrong team. Not quite sure why he's bothered about our Champions League group as it's shite.
