Loan Watch 2019/20

Another week in the books for our City loanees before the international break:

Patrick Roberts did not make the matchday squad for Norwich City's 0-2 loss away to West Ham. In the Championship, Jack Harrison played the full 90 as Leeds United suffered their first league loss of the season, 0-1 at home to Swansea City. Luke Bolton also played the full 90 as a right back in Luton Town's 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town at Kenilworth Road. Aro Muric was on the bench for the third successive game as Nottingham Forest drew with Preston North End 1-1. Neither Matt Smith or Tosin Adarbioyo made the matchday squads for QPR and Blackburn Rovers, respectively. Adarabioyo continues to to rehab from his early season injury and appears to be back in training.

In Germany, Zack Steffen made six saves but it wasn't enough for Fortuna Dusseldorf as they fell to Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1. Lukas Nmecha was an unused sub in Wolfsburg's 1-1 home draw with Paderborn. In La Liga action, Pedro Porro played the full 90 for Real Valladolid as they lost away to Levante 2-0. Yangel Herrera got the start for Granada in their 3-0 away win at Espanyol, playing the full 90 in the process. Thierry Ambrose was an unused substitute in Metz's loss to PSG, while Marlos Moreno came on for the final 25 minutes in Portimonense's 1-0 away loss to Moreirense in the Premeira.

Ko Itakura played the full 90, picking up a yellow in Groningen's 1-2 loss to Heracles and Felix Correira was not yet in the matchday squad for AZ Alkmaar's 2-1 defeat to Vitesse in Eredivisie play. In the second tier, NAC Breda suffered their first setback of the season in a 2-1 away loss to Volendam. Luka Ilic played the full 90 and provided the lone assist while his brother Ivan came off with just minutes to go having already picked up a yellow card. Paolo Fernandes once again started for Perugia and played 77 minutes in their 1-0 away win at Livorno in Serie B.

Anderlecht recorded their first win of the season and Philippe Sandler played the full 90 as they took down Standard Liege 1-0. Thomas Agyepong came on for the final 21 minutes of Waasland-Beveren's 0-4 loss to Sporting Charleroi. Ante Palaversa is out for another 3-4 weeks after picking up an injury in Oostende's match last week. In the Austrian Bundesliga, Erik Palmer-Brown served the first game of his suspension after his red card last week as Austria Wien fell at home to Rapid in the Vienna Derby.

Ryotaro Meshino came on as a first half sub in Hearts' 2-2 draw with Hamilton Academical for his club debut, just a day after his loan deal was formally announced. Mix Diskerud was an unused substitute in Ulsan Hyundai's 3-3 draw with Incheon United in South Korea and Uriel Antuna played the first 89 minutes of LA Galaxy's 4-3 away loss to the Seattle Sounders in MLS play, scoring their second goal in the match.

The post above lists which loanees have been called up for international action if you want to keep an eye on any of them over the next couple of weeks.

It was definitely a week to forget from City, so let's take a look at how the loanees got on this weekend.

Patrick Roberts was of course ineligible for Norwich in our loss at Carrow Road. In Championship action, Luke Bolton played the first 59 minutes of the contest while Matt Smith was an unused substitute in QPR's 3-2 win over Luton Town. Tosin Adarabioyo made his way back onto the pitch for Blackburn Rovers, playing the first 63 minutes before coming off in their home win against Millwall. Jack Harrison played the first half of Leeds United's 2-0 away win at Barnsley and unfortunately for our Aro Muric, he was once again left on the bench in favor of Brice Samba for Nottingham Forest's 1-0 win away to Swansea.

The clubs of our German loanees faced off in the Bundesliga on Friday with Fortuna Dusseldorf hosting Wolfsburg. Zack Steffen was in goal and made five saves while Lukas Nmecha was once again an unused substitute for the visitors. Today's La Liga slate saw both City loanees in action for their respective loan clubs. Pedro Porro played the full 90 in Real Valladolid's 1-1 home draw with Osasuna and and Yangel Herrera's Granada won 2-0 away to Celta Vigo who were reduced to 9 men after less than a half hour. Herrera scored the second of El Graná's goals with a brilliant shot from distance in the second half. Thierry Ambrose came on after 66 minutes in Metz's 2-0 away loss to Bordeaux in France and in Premeira action, Marlos Moreno came on for the final 25 minutes of Portimonense's 2-3 home loss to Porto.

The late window loan moves to Holland bring the total number of City owned players to seven between the first and second tiers. In the Eredivisie, Ko Itakura played the full 90 for Groningen in their 2-1 away loss to VVV-Venlo while Joel Latibeaudiere was an unused substitute for Twente in their away win over Fortuna Sittard. Luka and Ivan Ilic were both in the starting XI for NAC Breda in their 0-0 home draw with Jong Utrecht, with Ivan coming off in the 67th minute. Aminu Mohammed was not in the matchday squad for Dordrecht's 1-1 away draw to Volendam. Two loanees squared off when Jong PSV hosted Jong AZ Alkmaar with the hosts taking the full points in a 3-2 contest. Claudio Gomes played the full 90 as Felix Correira came off after 71 minutes for the visitors.

In Serie B action, Paolo Fernandes played 69 minutes of Perugia's 0-0 home draw with Juve Stabia. Erik Palmer-Brown was available for selection having finished serving a suspension from a red card in the Austrian Bundesliga, and he played the full 90 for Austria Wien but Die Velichen lost 3-0 away to Wolfsberger. In the Jupiler Pro League in Belgium, the three loanees currently fit all started. Philippe Sandler played the full 90 in Anderlecht's 1-2 home loss to Royal Antwerp. Sandler provided the assist for the goal but the hosts were reduced to ten men before Antwerp's winner in the 87th minute. Thomas Agyepong made a surprise start at holding midfielder, coming off after the 77th minute in Waasland-Beveren's 1-1 away draw to St. Truiden. Aleix Garcia scored the second of Royal Excel Mouscron's two goals in their 2-0 home win to Kortrijk and Ante Palaversa again missed out for Oostende after his injury last month. He is expected to return later in September.

In Scotland, Ryotaro Meshino came on as a substitute for Hearts in the early second half and went on to score an impressive long distance shot in the 86th minute in their 2-3 home loss to Motherwell. Daniel Arzani continues to train and is edging closer to his return for Celtic. In the Cyrpiot top flight, Ernest Agyiri came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute and scored just four minutes later but Enosis Neon Paralimni fell at home to Anorthosis, 1-2. Mix Diskeurd started in midfield for Ulsan Hyundai in their 3-3 draw with Gyeongnam before coming off in the 90th minute. Here in the States, Uriel Antuna came on as a sub for the final 35 minutes of LA Galaxy's 2-1 away loss to the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday after arriving back shortly before from international duty, where he scored against the United States. Earlier tonight, he started and played the first 80 minutes of the Galaxy's 7-2 win over Sporting Kansas City, scoring the fourth and assisting the sixth.

Jong AZ Alkmaar and NAC Breda square off Monday while Jong PSV will also be in action in the Eerste Divisie. Below are the goals scored this week by Yangel Herrera, Ryotaro Meshino, and Uriel Antuna.

That was nice by Ryotaro Meshino, very quick feet and he keeps the ball really close making tackles dangerous around the box. One to watch.

These are brilliant mate. Please keep them up (maybe you should start a City Loan Rangers Twitter account)

Appreciate it! I probably won't do that just because there's already quite a few City aggregator accounts but @CFG360 on Twitter is a good one to follow for loan news. I'll keep doing these on here so long as people are reading them. Journalism was my passion but decided to be "practical" and go into finance. This allows me to have a little fun with writing again.

These posts are wonderful for City fans interested in the overall club rather than just the first team, please continue the great work, I look forward to these reports.
