Barcelona fined £265....

So Atletico feel they've lost out by £72m for this tapping up and Spanish FA say "They have a point Barca, just pay them £265 to shut them up".

This fine is worse than throwing it out. It says they do think Barca tapped him up but that it's not that important to them. Does this break any of UEFA's rules?

The fine is ridiculous. Why did they not just throw out the complaint?

He had a release clause, how can anyone ever trigger a release clause if you cant ask them if they want to join? Or are you supposed to pay the money first and then ask if they want to join.

Madness...

He had a release clause that devalued the closer his contract got to running out
Athletico proved that he agreed to sign for Barcelona when his release clause was at the higher level

It is more to do with the fact that the point of initial contact the release clause was 190m but it was due to fall down to 120m for some reason, not sure why and that is why they were unhappy they think they should have the higher price as that was when Barca was talking to him initially.

Of course this was just off a twitter article and may well be utter bull :)

The fact that Atletico complained and it was proven probably gives the utter bull article some credence and in all likeihood it was probably him or his agent(s) informing Barcelona of the imminent drop in the release cause to ensure he got an even bigger wad of them when signing.

The fine is a whopping 1/188 of what Hudderfield got for wearing a shit shirt in a friendly or 1/113 what city got for being late despite the offence costing a rival club upto £70m, Hopefully other la liga clubs use this as a precedent to rape Barca and Real of their squad players, however I suspect if say betis tapped up a barca youngster the fine would have been 20m+

Uefa rules never seem to be applied to continental European teams with the same severity as 'offshore' European teams.
