VAR impact and consequence log - game 27

It wasn't absent though, it was used several times to agree with the on field decisions, 1st, 2nd, and 7th were all checked for one thing or another, all decisions correct.

Yesterday we showed how to side step any VAR controversy, just keep scoring, and even yesterday we should have scored more than we did.

exactly, 5 shots on target, 5 goals. 5-0 in 18 minutes, job done. Overall shots on target conversion 72.7%. Job done. Last weekend, Norwich have 100% shots on target conversion rate and we have 25% (below the 40% threshold), and we get done. It's critical and as demonstrated takes us out of opposition and referee influence in all but the rarest, exceptional circumstances.

Definitely! He was level in every sense, there’s no way that was offside. If any more than the width of a thread on the sleeve of the shirt being nearer to goal than the defender I’d be surprised.

The offside law when used with VAR is anti- football, anti-goals and favours the defender every time.

If someone has a shot and 99.9% of the ball is over the line but not the whole ball, it’s not a goal. Therefore the whole of the player should be beyond the defensive line in order to be offside. Just like the ball and the line, if any part of the attacker is onside, he is onside.

Spurs fans will be rightly livid, come the end of the season that could be the difference between them winning fuck all again or winning fuck all again!
Not sure I agree mate. It would completely fuck our way of defending up if there had to be clear daylight between last defender and forward runner.

We would never be able to play a high line again. All defences would play deeper, it would be a shit show.

Still doesn't change anything, if he was 1mm clear then it's still offside and people will still complain.

updated for Everton game, 5 games in a row now with no VAR controversy

We not counting the offside in the build up that they then forgot to use VAR to check with? It seemed to be an offside for Chelseas goal the previous week.

Nothing wrong with evertons goal, at no point was the player receiving the ball in am offside position. A different player Being offside and receiving the ball later in the move from an onside position is fine.

Okay then

Yep. The problem with VAR and offside is that it’s taking too long. If VAR gave an offside decision as quickly as goal line technology then I think that fans would be much more willing to accept it. There’d be less argument about its accuracy. The fact that it takes so long for a decision to be made tends to make people less trusting in the outcome.

Hopefully once VAR has been place for a while the technology will improve and offside decisions will become almost instantaneous.

Updated for the Wolves debacle, nothing to see here move along
