The champions league is a sham, it should be the winners of each respective league that competes to see who wins the European cup, anything else is just a money making con trick.

Why?
What is the point of the European Cup? Because I thought it was to have a competition between the best clubs in Europe.
Being champions of Belgium doesn't make you better than Real Madrid just because Barca won La Liga.
So many people in this thread just parrotting the same old bollocks without giving any thought to it, just "CL = bad. end of."
Do you know why it makes so much money? Because it's got games people actually want to see, between the best clubs in the world, not the winners of a bunch of leagues that lost relevancy in the 80s.

I have an idea for it get all the champions of the leagues plus the previous winner to play in it.
Let 2nd-4th play in another cup competion
Let the cup winners all play each other in another comp.

It depends what you want out of the competition. You seem to be leaning very much towards some version of a European Super League whereas others (myself included) want a trimmed down competition.

We boo it because it's a sham, it isn't the champions league it's a capitalist exersise on how easy it is to take over a sport and fleece that generational support with their consent. You may not see that but many many City fans do.

But it doesn't find the "champions of Europe" does it? For that you would need all clubs in Europe to play in a league!
Liverpool think they are the "champions of Europe" but they weren't even the best team in the North West last season (and haven't been champions of England for 30 years)!
But imagine if Spurs has won it and went round calling themselves the "champions of Europe" - it would be laughable!
