Anyone used to play?

Loved it. Used to love toy shops and searching through boxes of teams. I got flood lights and score board one year and orange tango balls, thought it was brilliant.

Yeah me to. As well as the blue and red teams that came with the set, I had City QPR and England. My dad fixed to a board so the pitch was always flat. Had some great times with my mates and then going round to theirs for the away leg.

My lad bought me a book for my birthday a while ago. Flick to Kick an illustrated history of Subbuteo by Daniel Tatarsky. For a bonus point, how did the inventor come up with the name?

Yep. Had the plastic pitch, floodlights, a 3 sided stadium, dugouts and about 15 teams including City home and away( think the away was AC Milan but it was black and red!) Brazil, Barcelona and Ajax were my other favourites

Yes back in the 60s also had the cricket version.

Used to play it a lot. Had at least 30 teams. Sold most of them several years back but still go a few.

Loved it,used to riot though with my dad if he beat me as I was always City,proper tantrums,bit like real life today to be honest

Spent many hours playing subbuteo. I had Football, cricket and rugby!
Used to play in the Midlands subbuteo league, going to strangers Houses with me mum (she could drive), sometimes over fifty miles away! Playing a game in someone's, she'd, garage or front room, with their family looking over your shoulder, seemed normal at the time? Played twelve minutes each way, then home in the car!
