Lol. My first car was an Austin Maestro Vanden Plas 84 model. Got it second hand at a good price. Quite an advanced car electronically and plush velour seats. Just that it was a British Leyland a rust bucket.

Well, he did say spacious and practical. A vehicle of such proportions would allow him to indulge in solitary back-seat activities without attracting the chauffeur’s attention.

Some take to driving like a duck to water pal. I passed 2nd time, should have been first but I'd only drove around Failsworth test centre once before and instructor never mentioned an unmarked crossroads, so I blame him. I did most of my lessons around Hyde test centre, so was familiar. My brother took his test 7 or 8 times before giving up altogether. Said he was ok and his instructor agreed, just turned into a bag of nerves on the tests

I’ve never felt the need to own a car so I never took lessons. I’d get behind the wheel if I had a family to ferry around - but that’s it save living somewhere remote depending on four wheels.

It was always easy to find someone to give me a lift somewhere etc.
