TV Fixture Changes 2019/20

If Wolves is put back to the 27th that will mean the Sheff Utd game will have to be on the Sunday or even Monday. If it's Monday that could mean the New Years Day game being put back again like last season. Fucking joke.

Here's the text of the Times article. Not sure what the Scouse moans about travel on Boxing Day are about, there hasn't been any national public transport on Boxing Day for decades.

The Premier League will today reveal that there will be four separate kick-off times for live football matches on Boxing Day for the first time, including Liverpool’s visit to Leicester City at 8pm.

All nine top-flight matches on Boxing Day will be streamed live on Amazon Prime, with other matches kicking off at 12.30pm, 3pm and 5.30pm. The other match, Wolverhampton Wanderers v Manchester City, will be played on December 27 and also shown on Amazon.

The late kick-off time for Leicester v Liverpool is set to infuriate fans on Merseyside because of public transport difficulties.

The most complex TV fixture schedule in the Premier League’s history led to a six-day delay from when it had originally planned to reveal the kick-off times and televised games for December and January, including the festive period.

The Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) has been critical of the delay, saying that fans have missed out on the chance to book cheap travel offers.

Premier League insiders say that the complexity of having to deal with three different broadcast partners for the first time — Amazon has two packages for the first time, as well as Sky Sports and BT Sport — plus there being three rounds in which all ten matches will be shown live, has taken more time than envisaged.

That Boxing Day falls on a Thursday means that there will be a quick turnaround before the next weekend’s matches, causing further complications in the scheduling. The first Amazon package is in midweek, with ten matches televised over three days from December 3. Amazon Prime has paid £90 million over three years to show 20 matches a season.

In a statement released before the confirmation of the Leicester v Liverpool game, the Liverpool fans’ group Spirit of Shankly said: “Our biggest concern is that our Boxing Day fixture away at Leicester City could be 8pm — that’s awful — with public transport difficulties, the expense, late returns and beyond.”

The FSF added: “The TV selections for December and January were due to be published by October 11. This has meant many fans wanting to book travel to games in the busy December period are potentially losing out on cheaper travel.

“Broadcasters’ impact on supporters, leaving match-going fans out of pocket on numerous occasions last season, has been a growing problem in recent years as the number of televised games has increased.”

FFS, when will it end all this fucking around with fixtures. Unbelievable that our game looks like being played on the 27th, meaning a knock on effect for the rest of our festive programme. Another non new years day fixture then, very poor.

I know I can't be critical of the times as it was a direct quote but what the fuck does late returns and beyond mean?

I am imagining a scouse buzz lightyear and tbh ins ruining a great kids film in my head.

FFS it's taken longer than envisaged?? They have only known about it for about 6 months at least. What a joke.
