Var debate 2019/20

Ive got an idea why don't the refs utilise the monitors provided pitchside ? and maybe show the replays on the big screens?

The way that PL had chosen to implement VAR, is a bit different to the way that most other organisations have done.

PL think that VAR can undermine the authority of officials , if allowed too much influence. And when decisions are made connected to goals, they don't want VAR to over rule the judge or dwell on situations unless it is 100% a violation.

VAR has made f*ck all difference in the fact they are still getting decisions badly wrong. The 2 Rag penalties and Mane at the weekend as examples (the Mane one should have been a foul against Mane).

Or involves teams that play in red

How do you work that out?? What did Mane do that was illegal?? Hate the scousers, but it was a clear pen...!! The first rag one was wrong no doubt, no foul there, but the second is a pen with the new handball rules!!

Defender was in control of the ball when Mane came in from behind and initiated contact as the defender was about to play the ball. As Mane did not make contact with the ball he fouled the defender by illegally preventing him from clearing the ball.

Mane is perfectly entitled to do what he did, any player worth his salt would do exactly the same, no infringement there. He was clever, put his body in the way and the lummox of a defender booted the back of his legs... As clear a pen as you'll ever see!!

Having referee’s mic’d up would help a lot with communication as to what’s going on with key reviews.

It’s fantastic hearing a clear rationale being given in some other sports. There’s a lack of transparency in football though and I believe that would prevent it being brought in.

Here’s an example as to why they won’t allow football refs to be mic’d up -

Take the De Bruyne penalty incident at Palace.

Ref: I’ve given a goal kick but could you just check that one for me?
VAR: It’s definitely in the box. There’s clear contact and enough to bring De Bruyne down. The Palace player doesn’t get the ball.
Ref: So you’re saying it’s a penalty then?
VAR: Nah. Give a goal kick.

i think we was ?? and even when the season started they show the VAR replay after the game kick back off, but now they don't show them just have the big wording on the screens VAR reviews are over, a lot of the stuff and idea's about VAR that was sold to the clubs and managers and players was just fake to get it into the game and clearly it does not work

for what we seen over the last weekend VAR should be put on hold and a major review of the system is needed, proper rules need written into the game and make it black and white and take out the judgement of one man and how he see's it in a studio ?? holding is a foul, pulling of a shirt is a foul, not all handball are fouls, tackles are not always fouls and contact can be made in making a tackle, offsides need a margin of doubt because the technology is not 100% correct and give the doubt to the attacking team

but the major change that is needed and FAST is the match going fans need to be inform what the hell is going on and not just a message saying VAR in progress, most of the premier league clubs have big screens so use them ?? even use the live feed and sound from the host broadcasters that way we know whats going on

i was at the game this weekend and 3 or 4 people was on the phone talking to somebody at home asking them what was the VAR for ?? how daft can the game be if somebody knows better than you whats going on at home ?? crazy that football is now better sat at home and not in the ground, you have to pay top dollar to go the games and you get treated like this, its not right and wrong and something has to change or like i said trouble is just around the corner
Spot on....its ruining the game
