Liverpool pay City £1 million in "spy" settlement for hacking - biggest PL scandal

"not quite"? Not in the same ballpark as Juventus, and under a different authority, so it's a pointless comparison.

I don't think this is going to get a points deduction, and expect that at most there'll be a big fine and a suspended punishment, but that's about it.

I'd think enforcing a pts deduction 6 or 7 years after an offence that the injured party (City) didn't take to the FA would be unsupportable; even if there was one, it would likely be next season as it would end up at CAS.

It's been mooted on here that perhaps City did take it to the FA, and the FA helped broker a settlement in order to "protect the Premier League brand". Of course, that might not be the case at all but if it is, perhaps this is why it's now leaked out. For example, and this is purely hypothetical: As if hacking us wasn't enough, these ****s are now putting pressure on UEFA to get us sanctioned over the Football Leaks e-mails, and City are now saying to the FA: "What are you going to do about these shit-stirring fuckers? You'd have thought brokering a settlement over the hacking would see them behave themselves in future but here we are again"

I honestly believe that this goes all the way to the top at Liverpool, and that utter snake John W.Henry actively encouraged the hacking. For me, he's by far and away the biggest **** in the English game with the exception of those unscrupulous owners who destroy lower league clubs.

Think Southampton might given the way they've plundered their players for years
Good point, still mental they made the scousers publicly apologize for tapping up Van Hypey but still sold him to then

R

Rags and Chelsea are in negotiations for shit sponsor, could say this scandal has affected them getting a better deal
Any legal representative could argue this
Hope you’re right pal, I’d love everyone to turn around and tel them to get fucked.

As many of us pointed out at the time. Much of it was a negotiating tactic to drive up the transfer fee.

And it likely worked.

That ban is for a completely unrelated violation.

Ah lol.

Well, my advice for the FA is to give liverpool a disproportionatly high punishment as is the tradition within the field of information security as a means to deter this sort of behaviour. Where one is dependant on the integrity of specialists and often costly sollutions, it tends to be a needed.

Because, it's too stupid to contemplate too what lenghts teams would need to go to be sure about their security. Sure, they could also put teams of private investigators on all their scouts and personel just to make sure they don't have the kind of bad behaviours that could be exploited trough blackmail such as we know rather prolific example's of in the field of espionage. So yeah no gambling additictions or drug addicitions or even pissing besides the pot. AND afcourse, knowing that the most secure system you can have is some isolated pc not even connected in any way to any network, i contemplate the picture of Pep Guardiola passing trough a system of multiple secured doorways entailing security guards, ID checks, retina scans and the sorts of doors that could stand a nuclear impact. and yes, these would be the kind of secure rooms that even do not have the kind of broad ventilation shafts that would allow the likes of a Tom Cruise to grease trough in a movie title that doesn't really hold up to its name.

So one deters, because otherwise it could easily get out of hand. So they should make an example of Liverpool, IMHO. ;)

Boston red Sox got caught up in a scandal recently

is there a timeline connection between our original ffp negotiations and this agreement of 1m quid compo?

and is there a connection between the latest trawling of ffp from back in the day and this news item becoming relevant again? say, maybe rick parry shooting his mouth off and pissing our board off?

seems a very protracted story and reporting/lack of reporting of it. i smell a reneged deal from somebody scouse related.
I think the person shooting his mouth from inside UEFA may well have upset our Directors but also the journalists at the Times who were led up the garden path with the earlier stories from UEFA which made them look stupid. I don't believe for one second that the Times have picked up on this story by co-incidence. They have had their card marked by someone.

A look into the future and recap of the FA’s thorough investigation:

Brand conscious and Liverpool-supporting FA investigator:
“Did your great Club do anything wrong”?

Red Scouse mafia gobshite:
“No”

Outcome:
FA issue formal apology for offending one of their most lucrative cash-cows and undertake to put the boot into their closest rivals at every opportunity.

Case closed.

I am not surprised papers like the Guardian are ignoring it, but still the BBC have to my knowledge not run it. Are Liverpool's lawyers threatening the media?
