Rugby Union World Cup 2019

Rugby league is miles better
League is like watching a Pep team. When a team has the ball close to their own line they play out from the back and play through the set. The ball is in play between 70-75% of the game. It’s all about the ball and playing with it, and about exploiting space and scoring tries. There are players that have upwards of 35 carries and 60 tackles throughout every game.

Union is like watching a Pulis side. When a team has the ball close to their own line they kick it away as far as possible. The ball is in play between 30-35% of the game. There’s more standing around doing nothing than there is actual rugby played with the ball. It’s all about field position and forcing mistakes or penalties. Tries are a side issue. There are players who have 13 carries and 15 tackles and they’re said to have had a busy game.

Everyone knew how SA were going to play. England have played right into their hands.

Wins are based on three things, scrums, line-outs and the break down, and we've been second best at all. Add to that gifting them penalties. Hugely disappointing.
