Kazimierz Deyna

Not often I disagree with you Oakie, but I do here my friend.... I will see your Barry Silkman and raise you a Gerry Creaney, who in my humble opinion, has the distinction of being the worst ever City player...…… by a country mile!
I`ll raise yer. ;) Unfortunately I had the displeasure of watching both but I`ll still go Silkman but only by a whisker.

Scored the winner in a 1-0 win over forest when they were one of the best teams in Europe. Never forgotten it. Hence my misspelt username .

I seem to remember Big Mal referring to it as us passing our 'O' levels and when we went onto play the red dippers that was our 'A' levels, think we got pumped 0-4, those fuckers used to love that Maine Road playing surface.

Do any of you remember him taking a free kick (toward the old scoreboard end) from about 35 yards.Every fucker in the ground went WTF !! It sailed in to the top right hand corner of the net.Wonderful silky player and just so unfortunate with his injuries. No idea as to why he picked City at the time. ;)

2-3 home defeat to Villa ?

I think this is right. Rearranged midweek game that was our last fixture of the 1978/79 season. We were 2-1 up at half time with Deyna having scored both goals (I think the free kick was the second) but ended up losing.

Colin Bell played at centre back that evening alongside Dave Watson, and it ended up being the final City senior appearance for both of them. It was also the last game of Asa Hartford's first spell at City.

That could be a new Bluemoon Thread

The greatest goal you ever saw that wasn’t televised

I’m torn between Melrose v Notts County and Phillps at Selhurst Park (both 84-85)

I still regard Silkman as the worst ever City player I have ever seen.Wanted to take all free kicks and throw ins.Became a footie agent. He loved himself ... pity no other fucker did.
`nuff said.

When I saw his name I remembered him snatching the ball out of Peter Barnes hands as he going to take a throw-in on the main stand side. Barnes just stood there with a WTF look on his face.

I was one of just two City fans (the other being Andy Shaw) who went to Poland to watch that friendly game. What an amazing trip! I've got enough anecdotes (all 100% true) to write a book; suffice to say that we ended up siiting on the City bench for the whole of the game.

It ended 2-1, with Deyna scoring a goal for each side.
Did we play home and away then? (It does strike a very faint bell) because I was thinking of the game at Maine Road.
