Finland

Decent hockey players.
This is also a fact that has actually hindered the development of football in Finland - ice hockey is what all the kids want to play and watch live. Also, local football clubs have to compete against the English Premier League and other top European leagues for fans. There's been an apathy regarding Finnish football for decades. This is slowly changing now - the excitement for this qualifying campaign has been tangible all year, since the successful Nations League campaign really. The head coach Markku "Rive" Kanerva is a cult icon now. Grown men are singing "I want to make love to Rive". Pukki and centreback Paulus Arajuuri revered as well. Pukki has 9 goals in 9 quals games so far, got two more against Liechtenstein yesterday. Football in Finland very much on the rise - you just hope it shows in club football attendances too when the leagues resume in the spring (Finnish leagues run from April to October).
