I had a sore neck about 4 years ago that got steadily worse until my right arm, neck and upper back were in constant serious pain. I couldn’t fish, had difficulty driving and sleeping. I have Bupa cover so went to a specialist, who ordered all sorts of checks and finally told me I had some damage to one of the top vertebrae that was ‘probably’ causing it and there was nothing medical science could do and I would have the pain all my life. Nice.Has anyone any experience of using accupuncture for back pain?
On the recommendation of a friend, I went to see a acupuncture practitioner in East Lothian. £28 per 1/2 hour session. She said that if I could see no benefit from it after three sessions then I wouldn’t be likely to get benefit from more prolonged treatment. Needles were duly inserted (painless) all over back, arms, some in back of leg and quite a few in sole of feet. Then you just lie there for 30 mins until needles are taken out. After the first session, there was no improvement, after the second a massive improvement and after two more, pain free. So after suffering chronic pain for damn near seven months, acupuncture got rid of it within 5 weeks.
Don’t know how it works but for some it certainly does. I haven’t needed any treatment since.
If you are getting nowhere through traditional medicine it’s certainly worth a try.
