Angelino - 2019/20 Performances

The left sided dynamic is difficult to balance defensively when you have Angelino, Sterling and David.

Against teams sitting back and not much pace on the counter it is fine, but against pace you need a defensive midfielder to cover the fullbacks width or a defensive fullback.

Swap David for Zincehnko to give Angelino and Sterling the attacking freedom imo.

Just to add to the point with Laporte it would have been easier of course, but Liverpool have that balance because they play with 3 defensive midfielders.

We were probably hoping to ease Mendy back in but Zinchenko's loss of form and subsequent injury scuppered that plan. If only Mendy hadn't suffered two serious knee injuries we would have the Monaco version aka one of the best attacking leftbacks in Europe. As things stand, that position is a bit of a mess.

I think he did alright to be honest, obviously limited but he's asked to do a lot. There's a lot of praise for Wan Bissaka but hedidn't cross the halfway line, defended deep with lots of help around him and he's given one job. Our full backs would look better in that situation.

What he has to improve at is blocking shots, disgraceful attempts tonight.

Embarrassing performance. There was a reason we sold him in the first place and that was because he wasn’t good enough, especially defensively. He’s not improved and imo was only signed in an attempt to make a profit in re-selling but unfortunately due to injuries has had to play

Any chance of us signing a left back that can defend ? Mendy , Zinchenko and Angelino are fine going forward but all are liabilities when defending , not sure if its our tactics but they all eventually get exposed , Pep needs a drastic re-think in that area or sign a left back who likes defending first. Zinchenko is the best of the bunch and he needs to be back in the team , Angelino has had some promising games but today he was found out with some schoolboy errors , he's not the answer.
