VAR impact and consequence log - game 27

It boils down to transparency, simple as that, mike up the refs and the var team, play it in real time and all (or most) calls of corruption will go away overnight
And make all the footage and conversations justifications available to everyone.

We'll still be left with the delay which I find unacceptable anyway.

At the moment we have damage to the spontaneity and widespread cyncism that it is being used to advance the interests of Man Utd and Liverpool. Man Utd's penalty count is at record levels.

Ceferin on VAR and offside. These comments sound very familiar!

"It is a real issue that, with offside, the key lines that dictate a decision are drawn manually with technology that cannot deliver the precision that is sometimes claimed.

"I have consistently said that there needs to be a tolerance that reflects the margin for error in the system."
It's interesting that Ceferin and ex ref Peter Walton have confirmed what has been stated previously that there is a significant margin of error because the images are only 50 frames a second. This means that the so-called armpit offside decisions can never be accurate. Walton also said that in the USA the referees were making decisions using the monitors and the naked eye and there had been much fewer problems. Surely Riley and Swarbrick cant survive in their jobs after this fiasco.

VAR needs work... a lot of work.

I favor VAR in the long run - minimizing officiating errors.

Too - VAR might lend in eliminating silly rules - such as, if the ball strikes an attacker's hand in any way whatsoever, even if clearly inadvertent, and not a foul, then it's subsequently a foul if immediately subsequent to the inadvertent hand-ball a goal is scored.

Ridiculous rule!

And VAR highlights how stupid this rule is.

Probably ban Rodders for 10 games for swinging his face at an opposition player's elbow.
Plus the fact if it had been sent off in the last game like Ferny he would have been suspended and not on the pitch. In short it's his own fault

They can if they reward themselves 7 out of 10.
Well Gazza you've been absolutely shit at your job this year, what sort of rise do you think you deserve?
97%
Ok

Just an opinion mate, he could have easily blown up for the foul on Foden before our first goal and didn't. I think by the standard of referees we have had to put up with, he on the whole was not too bad.
He could also have gone back and cautioned any number of three or four of their players who tried to stop that particular attack using thuggish tactics, that are outwith the spirit and Laws of how the game should be played. But he didn't.

Peter Walton is on talk shite this afto. He was instrumental in drafting the protocol is the use of VAR but apparently he is unhappy about the way it is being implemented particularly on offsides.

On BBC Breakfast City got quite a good coverage, all goals shown plus the elbow with an appropriately critical comment.

Then Silly Sally Nugent brought up a tight offside decision in another match and Naga Munchetty had to chime in. Now Gaga Naga knows as much about football as l do about astrophysics but that didn't stop her insisting 'offside is offside'. Why does the BBC allow people to give a view on anything and everything especially people who lnow nowt about the thing they waffle about?

I would still smash into the pair of them until the neighbours complained about the smell
