The lake district isnt attractive to all apparently?

Think people are missing the point a bit on this thread although to be fair whenever I go to the lakes, not that often, there seems to be no shortage of visitors including loads of foreign tourists. A few facts about the economy of the Lake District and how reliant it is on the white middle class demographic would be interesting. Also, not to try and stir anybody up but will the mainly service industries of the lakes flourish without the large number of Europeans working there?
I think you`ve taken this far too seriously.

This is not new. Some years ago, there was a complaint that the Yorkshire Dales were not accessible to the asian population of Keighley. (Ffs you just get on a bus or a train or drive there). So the LA gave a grant to a woman to encourage ethnic minorities to visit. She put up a few posters and spoke to local community groups. Result: nada.
Didn't she win Bake - Off??
How very inclusive of you

The headline like most tell littlenof the story.

A court case about allowing some areas tto be tarmaced and also letting 4x4s and biike.on some.trails resulted in the long standing executive of the lakes area say he wants to open it up to all as it can be seen as a place for white abled bodied people of a certain age.

Also that to keep the funding coming in they need to appeal to all in the country not just seasoned visitors and ramblers

The national trust have said similar recently, non story not even worth reporting in anything but the local paper
