Id have thought bad for your lower back, lying in a convex shape, you need lower back to be concave.

My wife said yes, it is good for a bad back, and yes, you do get a good night's sleep in one. She was raised in Brasil, and knows all about them.

You aren't supposed to sleep in them in a banana shape. You are supposed to sleep diagonally. We have one in our garden every summer, and I can confirm they are very comfortable. We have authentic Brasilian ones. I've sleep in ours overnight, and can confirm they are very comfortable.
