Australia Fires

The fires have got worse since the green party have become more vocal on land management apparently. Controled burns that used to happen in areas are no longer permited. The result is a meter or so in height of thick growth all between the taller trees which was once less overgrown with vegetation or similar extra growth. Huge areas are like this and when it gets dry these small bushes go up that did not used to be there. The aussies call it "fuel load increase" and this is as bad as it has ever got according to many a comment .

In many areas locked gates have been installed to with bollards to the side for a good distance. So if a fire truck needs to access one of these roads into the bush they can't.

It seems some misguided efforts have actually caused the exact effect they wanted to avoid in this case though.

Add that to a long dry spring and you have a good mix for trouble.

Yep. This from ABC Gippsland a couple of months ago (Gippsland has been one of the worst effected areas)

This is absolutely true, the greenies have a lot to answer for IMO.
We have bush fires every year but they have been managed and controlled with backburning prior to summer. Without this prior management things have got a lot worse.

Any way you spin it, it's a sad horrible thing. It's not going to get better in a hurry....unfortunately

I’ve just arrived in Sydney to visit the in laws
Left Hobart in beautiful clear skies 25degrees, Sydney under a hazey humid heat, you can taste the smoke
Tomorrow where we’re staying NW Sydney, it’s forecast 43 !!
I’d just like to a mention some of the firefighters are volunteers and have not had a Christmas or new year, respect guys

Swiss cheese saying it's just the circle of life, the bush fires are bigger than the size of Belgium which is ridiculous. Imagine hearing about a whole country in Europe being on fire and surely you would realise this isn't just a 'circle of life' event
It is a cycle of life. Always has been and nature adapts or is adated. As mentioned man has chosen to live in a fairly hostile environment and must therefore face the consequences. The Aussie will deal with it.

Scomo got the brush off lmao. Feck off to he'll with your climate change deniers you turd

That's not true at all, politicians have blamed burnoffs and then attributed this to the greens (who have never held the power to do so).

Those actually involved in burnoffs have said that the window if time they have to do so and having conditions required to do safely have diminished because of climate change. It's just too dry.

So I suggest looking behind that rhetoric being pushed.

Absolute bollocks mate - this is beyond anything that has been seen before.

"Cycle of life" ...

Just before Christmas I came back from Sydney where my son lives. Australia may well have always had bush fires but not around Sydney. Virtually every day the sky around the capital was covered by smoke. This is unprecedented make no mistake, The country has had virtually no rain for years and inland farmers after suffering their third year of drought. I saw a map of the fires yesterday. It really is bad, hundreds of huge fires are out of control.

This is directly linked to global warming and we would all do well to do something, mind you if they stopped mining and selling coal...…… (worlds biggest suppliers)
