When we played Wolves having Sterling up top after we lost Ederson made sense on paper because of his pace. In theory it stops the other team getting to be too overzealous in attack. Neither Aguero nor Jesus can match that.

I do wonder if that's played a big part in his thinking?
It certainly seems so. It might be playing is too cute, but clearly some thinking applied here. He saw what they did to us using speed. He has ( I presume) set Kev and Mahrez behind Sterling to release him at will against the FACE. I like his chances

We literally named a team of eleven seasoned internationals in a Carabao Cup match. You need to lie down or something.
Hardly significant when every senior player we have are seasoned internationals. It's a fucking Derby, you put out your best available 11 and you fucking win. What are we saving them for? The league is well and truly gone, the champions League is a long way off. Anyway we may still win. Not really the point though.

Really? I'd say their back 5 is better than what we have put out tonight and a midfield of Rodri and Gundo is as slow as mud.
Let United run around like headless chickens while we play with our heads and control the play and when the space opens up slot Sterling. mahrez or Bernardo in.

The team is full with creative players, we are going to have chances. The idea imo is to tire them down and strike in the 2nd half.
