There is a tribute being held for vinny tonight by the FWA at the Savoy London. I believe it's a yearly event, with Vinny being the Third ex City player honoured.

The FWA's national committee chose to honour Kompany not just for his outstanding contribution to English football, having won every domestic trophy (Four PL titles, Two FA Cups and four League Cups) but also for his charity work, not least via Tackle4MCR, a co-operation with the Mayor of Manchester's office to tackle homelessness in the City. He also studied for and gained an MBA when he was in Manchester, and is a FIFA ambassador for the SOS children's charity.

Have a good night Vincent, it's thoroughly deserved.

Edit after slap on wrist from Gary James :)

I could have done with a bit more notice.

It is tonight and he does deserve it but he's not the first ex-MCFC player to be honoured. The award was introduced in 1983 and the following ex-MCFC players have previously been awarded it:

1994 Denis Law
2016 Patrick Vieira

But the first City player to be honored with it.

Shame the FWA tweeted the rag **** stone taking the piss at the villa match.

Fully deserved, it's great he is finally getting more recognition other than from us, his National side and Boyhood club.
