Aston Villa (A) Post-Match Thread

Today and United were very similar performances. If we play Palace off the park in the same fashion I think we might be at the beginning of a big, big run in the second half of the season. Everyone seems to be coming back to form and hitting the same wavelength at the same time, with the 2 injured lads back in a few weeks and Mendy improving every game.

Suddenly every seems to get pulled along with the tide. 6 weeks ago you looked at the squad and it was hard to pick a player in form other than Sterling. Now you look around and everyone is playing well and coming into form.

It was not a penalty, and of course VAR was not going to overrule the referee.
As far as I could see Gundo's foot did not step on the Villa diver, and he didn't trip him up either as far as I could tell. You could see he was looking for the opportunity to dive before then.
Really dislike this lack of sportsmanship and it is putting me off the game.
The officials are pathetic in that they don't seem to know when players dive or what is an actual foul these days.
Small-time Liverpool and United fans in the pub cheering the fact we didn't keep a clean sheet? They are not normal people.

Fair play to the Villa fans who stayed till the end.

To the rest of the early leavers present today -

"Where were you, where were you, where were you when it was 6, where were you when it was six"! ???

In 2003, our final season at Maine road, we were spanked 5-1 at home to Arsenal. We were in awe of them and the magnificent football they played, and many blues stayed till the end to applaud Arsenal off the pitch!

Villa are back in the Premier League after a 3 season absence and after 30 minutes they couldn't wait to fuck off off en masse. Fickle ****s don't deserve PL football!

It ain't all about winning, and we know better than most. And opposing fans in the know know exactly WWTWWWS!!!

Yep, I was there. We applauded Arsenal and Henry in particular when he took corners. No return of the compliment now the boot's on the other foot.

Another top performance even after making 6 changes really seem to be hitting top gear now and a near fully fit squad big shout for mahrez who is unplayable atm.
Yep, he's now a Pep player - a gradual process. For Leicester he dipped in and out and most stuff came off for him. It's a more demanding scenario here - you have to be consistently trying to do the right thing to stay in the team.
