Pep Guardiola will give his entire Manchester City squad a period of complete rest from football during the Premier League’s new winter break.

City play West Ham on February 9, after which Guardiola will give his players a period time off - possible four or five days to spend time with family or go on holiday. Their next game is 13 days later, away to Leicester, before they face Real Madrid in the UCL. [@mcgrathmike]

Generally speaking,it might be good or knock teams off their stride

Exactly, nobody knows when the worse weather will happen. It even snowed in spring and stopped a Derbyshire/Lancashire cricket match some years ago. A well meaning but ultimately daft idea.

False.

They’re moving the 5th round of the cup to midweek to accommodate it and replays have been scrapped.
Ok more midweek cup games!

It’s been a disaster in Scotland. It was just an excuse to allow Celtic and Sevco to play money spinning friendlies in the Far East and elsewhere.

Half the time the weather in early January has been fine and they come back to Baltic conditions in late January early February.

In any even replays from the Fifth Round onwards were scrapped last season (if not earlier).

The answer is more rotation not silly five day ‘breaks’!
