I don't believe this is true because; -
1. The Daily Fail lies, lies, lies - always quick to publish a click bait headline regardless of it's verity (if they check and find that the story is nothing but lies then then publish anyhow and claim that they hadn't checked).
2. Mere golf club is not a venue that you'd select for a 'private' event because it's a members establishment and, ergo no secrets as members talk.
3. City have more class than that.
If I see this in a paper with a reputation for honest reporting then I'll take it seriously.
