The Community Shield used to be called the Charity Shield of course but do you know why they changed the name?

It was because the FA were investigated by the Charities Commission over their failure to keep proper records and declare how much of the ticket revenue went to charities. So they weren't allowed to use the name "Charity Shield".

Gordon Taylor has confirmed he will leave his role as chief executive of the Professional Footballers' Association after 38 years.

Taylor, 74, has headed up the players' union since 1981 after taking over from former secretary Cliff Lloyd.

But his departure comes after the organisation announced a "full and open review" into its finances.

"I have given the majority of my life to the advancement of the PFA," he said at the PFA's annual general meeting.

The meeting, held on Wednesday in Manchester, should have taken place in November.

Taylor will remain in his post until the review is complete and presented at the following AGM.

The PFA has also said its entire management committee and current chairman Ben Purkiss will step down.

Taylor is crooked, simple as that, allegedly, right to point out Jeff Astle, and the battle to get the link between heading, dementia and payments to all players that have and continue to suffer, be it physical or mental health issues following or during their time in and out of the game. Many players whom have suffered before and since this crooked individual took on his role and was the highest paid union official in the UK or Europe for that matter. Quite simply, he is the Jimmy Hoffa of the football world, shame he’s lasted longer than poor old Jimmy and the Teamsters!!!

This investigation is already 14 months old, what a farce. As others have highlighted the main area of concern is ……

The PFA’s accounts for 2017-18 detailed staff costs of just over £4m for a company listed as PFA Charity. And yet, on page 18 of the same accounts, it was stated that “the Charity does not have any employees and therefore no salaries or wages have been paid during the year”.

How does it take 14 months to investigate, bearing in mind Taylor is paid 2 million a year by the charity the longer it goes on the better. Absolute crock of bent shit.

The delay is due to them asking Stockley Park to oversee it and Dermott Gallagher will then present the findings and will no doubt confirm "everything is tickerty boo and there's nothing to see, so move along now"..!

The way they are used and abused is a total disgrace. The regulatory authority have no teeth and it seems no desire to stop the abuse. In this instance the money was repaid with interest, hmmmm, what if they had not been caught.
