Aymeric comes back and surprise, surprise, we keep a clean sheet. We really missed him.

Difficult place to go but a good performance and a good result. Got to feel for Raz at the end, looked like the others were trying to help him score but it just wasn’t happening.

Sheffield are dirty bastards, would love to see them go down next season. Besic should definitely have been sent off and that rag prick was a mile off his line.

Just need Sane back now as well!

Worries me that we're genuinely talking about our GK as peno taker. First off, the pressure would be enormous, even if he scored 15 and missed 1 he'd be annihilated. Second, this talk of nominating someone to be in nets if it is saved, as tongue in cheek as it may be, is bollocks. Thirdly, we are one of the best and most expensive squads in history, with a football that when properly hit at that distance, is almost impossible to save - get someone to practice the "Julian dicks" smash and there's not a keeper will be able to react - fucking leather it just off-centre!! We are bound to have an outfield player who can do that instead of all this stop/start run up shite, surely?!?!

Franny used to go down the middle hitting it close to the GK but with such venom they couldn't react.

Just back myself, game was just as expected, playing Burnley version 2, long ball and at times overly physical. Wonder what would have happened if the first half foul on laporte was done to a dipper or Trafford. It would have led to an arrest and prison sentence.

Anyway, shit penalty but job done and good to see our french CB finding the old ottamendi and bringing him back too.

Sergio's movement was immense when he came on though, you can see the quality he has. Kdb was not fully at the races but what a ball for the goal.

that was a real grind to get that - but we fully deserved the win even though we didnt play particularly well compared to our normal standards (part of that was down to the dirty/fouling behaviour of the Sheff Utd players - no wonder their fans are so ignorant having to watch that shit every week - football from the mid 8o's and a fan base stuck in that time zone as well)

it was an odd team selection from Pep but maybe he anticipated the battle it was - when i saw the team sheet what struck me was for the first time with Pep i thought he had picked a defensive team (as fa as we normally are).

Positives

Laporte back and looking good - passing a bit rusty but completely understandable
Sergio!
Rodri very good as well as Ferna
Sterling - didnt play well but never hides
Walker - again never hides aand has that aggression when its needed - never shirks anything. Maybe not the greatest with the ball at his feet at times but always puts a shift in

Garcia - only on for the last little bit but there was one challenge in the area where he cold have easily given a penalty away if he got it wrong but it was such a good challenge - so cool.....

Negatives

Gabriel Jesus - forgetting the penalty but the more time goes by the more I become unsure about him and a long term future with us - just not sure he can step up - it showed how far behind in terms of ability with what Sergio did with his clinical movement in the box which Jesus just doesnt do anywhere near enough. I think we have an issue when Sergio hangs his boots up.

Penalties - we used to be so good at them (Elano, Tevez, Balo, Yaya) - now i just dont back us to score - Ferna, KDB should be the takers

KDB's position - when he is played further back like today he is less effective. Im not saying he didnt play well or that he played badly

Overall great result and fully deserved against the anit football we were faced with.

GJ has a near one in two strike rate for us.

Its fine in a shoot out, but what if he hits the bar, and they subsequently break away and score in an empty goal ?

If he's as good as Pep thinks he is, the only thing he'll hit is the back of the net.....unless TYPICAL CITY kicks in. :>)
