Reposting this as a reminder of what Rodri can do and already has done. It is highlights of his best moments, of course, but he has had quite a few already, mostly in defensive midfield.

I think we do tend to only think of a player’s last 90 minutes, which are often heavily influenced by many factors outside of him (such as team selection, formation, tactics, teammates’ performances), and forget what they have done in the past and how good they actually are.

He seems to really divide opinion. Personally I think he's been a real positive this season and think he will get even better. It's not been easy for him having to play out of position on occasions and playing in front of a makeshift defence. People weren't that keen on Fernandinho when he first joined and he turned out to be one of our best ever signings.

Works both ways though. People seem to been very quick to forget how good Fern has been over the years and instantly hailed Rodri as world class. The reality is that Rodri has done ok but he’s not been a patch on the Fern of the past two years and has most certainly not shown enough in a City shirt to be labelled as world class.....yet.

Its his first season in English football and he is still finding his feet. Don't forget it took David Silva and Yaya Toure time to fully settle.

Often the wrong side of things dragging the player back. Needs to bust a gut to get goal side and then look to make a tackle. Interceptions are good but he is sometimes too rash and slow to read the game. Not a patch on Ferny but then not many are. Fabinho looks a lot better this season than je did last for example, hopefully a consistent team and a run in the side will benefit him.

Hoping to see Walker Laporte Ferny Mendy Rodri De Bruyne Bernardo as the core soon. Foden or Silva as alternatives to Bernardo. Gundogan as cover for De Bruyne if required or late on.

Out of curiosity, do you remember the general consensus on here and in the stands during Dinho’s first year with us?

Thought Rodri was ok tonight. His role is to be neat and tidy and to lay the ball off and keep things ticking.
He is a big guy and is rarely forced off the ball and always has time.
As per,I am perplexed as to Gundogans involvement.
