Rodri - 2019/20 Performances

How he circulates the ball and choses the right option even when under pressure, is absolutely brilliant for a player in his position. Mind you, it's a requirement in any kind of Pep team, but it's still amazing to watch. Bit clumsy and slowish on the turn, but at least he makes the right foul when necessary. :)

Is he ok for the final after bookings in both semi finals?

They were reporting that the fella from Villa (Konsa?) will be out of the final due to the two bookings he got. However when you read the rules it does say that no one will miss the final due to bookings.

Any suspension would apply to the next games not Carabao Cup.

I think they changed that. Competition specific now. It says 2 bookings leads to suspension but cards wiped at QF stage. However the TV and press reported that Konsa would be out for Villa but the rules are ambiguous.

Reposting this as a reminder of what Rodri can do and already has done. It is highlights of his best moments, of course, but he has had quite a few already, mostly in defensive midfield.

I think we do tend to only think of a player’s last 90 minutes, which are often heavily influenced by many factors outside of him (such as team selection, formation, tactics, teammates’ performances), and forget what they have done in the past and how good they actually are.

World Class!

More and more we're seeing just how bloody good Fernandinho is/was in that position. To be the only man there and completely run the show is extraordinary. The engine, the athleticism, the touch, the intelligence - a marvel.

I think we do need some more athletic to complement Rodders in the position to replace Dinho, but finding that guy who must also be as good on the ball as Dinho is very tough.
Nonsense! Not to pick on a legend, but Fernandihno too had many a poor game. Too many forget now that Dihno was benched at the end of 2 of our 3 title seasons.

He had poor games, so much so that the excuse " X didn't play well because he was covering for Y" became a standard line from a few fans.

X often being Dihno and Y being Yaya, Gundogan, Kolorov, Mangala, Javi Garcia, Octopus or whoever was the unlucky sod who had the misfortune of being present when we played a bad game Dihno played in.

So let's pump the breaks on the revisionist history. Peak Dihno is better than current Rodri. But he wasn't always peak Dihno. There were many average Dihno periods.

But here is a fact NOT in question: 1st year Rodri is miles ahead of 1 year Dihno. Miles Ahead!
