United (H) - League Cup SF 2nd Leg Post-Match Thread

Absolutely nailed it there BBS.Wonderful script mate.

He 99 per cent nailed it. I would just clarify that I really enjoyed it last night and so did the people I went to the game with. Yes it was tense at times but we played well in the first half and saw the result out in the 2nd. The tension in the stands got to the team at times but the players aren’t robots.

Those who never stop moaning were humiliated by the youngster who ran on to the pitch just before the end of the game to start the celebrations early. If you didn’t have the bottle to get behind the lads last night asks yourself is football your game?

Many of us who have seen the Blues robbed of Wembley trips by the Kevin Reeves mystery foul or the Micah Richards accidental handball will just be happy that we made the final.

I just don't know what or where these negatives about last night are based. We battered 'em. I would be mightily disappointed had the first game ended 0-0 but it didn't, and as for not making an effort last night, being vacant, careless? Jeez, it's a game of football - there are ten thousand variables in a game, most of which the players and managers have no control over whatsoever. I think those who felt that the City players didn't perform last night need to explain how the ball ended up in the Rag net twice?

This. fucking hell liverpool would have bangedi n every once of those chances. David Silva's was unforgivable

Conversion rates have us second with 19.6% of chances taken just behind Liverpool who have 20.2%.

We however score more goals because we create far more chances than them.

The narrative they would score every chance we miss is frankly fucking rubbish and based on nothing!

I see Pep has said we need to learn to be more clinical.
The problem is he has been saying that for a few years now and we are just as bad.
I think if we sign a player in the future, part of the medical will be to put the ball on the edge of the 6 yard box, and if they pass or put it wide instead of the back of the net bulging we stop negotiations :)-

That said, our corners are a disgrace, how comes we have not sacked the set piece specialists we brought in from Middlesborough at the start of 2019 yet. Tim Cahill was not the tallest but always managed to score headers against us, its the delivery and movement and we are shocking at it

Never seen those figures before so quite encouraging to see that the Scousers are equally (or as near as damn it) as guilty.

I will say a little prayer for you at bedtime tonight.

I didn't know you believed in God....

If we beat Villa then this will all be forgotten but I see it as an opportunity missed. And any opportunity to batter that mob should never be overlooked in my opinion

I would play Jesus more. He is as good a finisher as Aguero. Play them both. Sterling's pace and dribbling is unsurpassed but he has a continuing problem with finishing. He can fix it.

Set pieces will improve when Laporte returns. Having one big target man is easy to deal with. Two makes it harder. That's partly why I want Stones and Laporte in the side and not Fernandinho. Set pieces are a huge part of the game.

When we drew Utd I think you'd have taken this outcome.

Who will replace Fern?

Not sure there I a straight replacement, same with some of the other players I mentioned, they have unique skills and attributes.
Rodri is still in his first season with us, he will get better and is showing some of the qualities we need.

I get that the squad needs constant attention but it is the 'major rebuild' that I don't see. United need a major rebuild, we do not.

Nearly had me there.....

Well given the criminal amount of chances we miss, given we are considering having the bloody goalkeeper taking penalties because non of the outfield players can be trusted then whilst defence is certainly a big part it is only half the reason why Liverpool are over the hills and far away. Yes Var...but that is really now a small part of the issue.

Aguero is Aguero and will score vital goals, but he also misses a hat full and has alot of games where he is bang average.
Jesus is a second striker, granted a good one.
Sterling is world class in spells but again has long spells such as now where he would struggle to get in Macc Towns team.

We have lost twice at home to the worst rags team in living memory, not to mention losing to Norwich, hardly a crisis in the grand scheme of things by City standards of course. After all a cup final and near certain top 4 would have been seen as utopia not so long ago.....but times have changed somewhat.
