Var debate 2019/20

despite West Ham being completely shite. Football is still the best and most entertaining sport imo. Apologies but that spurs city game was brilliant for the neutral, VAR hasn’t affected the entertainment.

As a neutral maybe, if that involves your team then it’s no longer the same sport we al loved

but what would your reaction have been had the ref not given that penalty against Aguero ? It’s completely farcical - refs can not cope with the modern game. They need some form of help

It’s as many have said, including yourself, it’s the way it’s being used. It’s a joke Dean missed the penalty, it’s another joke that the game went on for nearly 3 more minutes until the penalty was given. Obviously they was wanting the ball to go out, if it’s a clear pen which it was then that decision should be done in seconds. Spurs could have scored in that play only for more controversy ruling it out to give us a pen. It’s being used horrendously, it shouldn’t be this bad.

If Spurs would have scored would I wouldn't have been shocked if the pen was strangely overlooked like at Anfield

agree. It has to become clearer and better. But the whole farcical few minutes was justified for me because VAR saw the penalty and the ref laughably thought the spurs defender won the ball.

what would have been a joke were without VAR, the ref doesn’t give a penalty and spurs go in the other end and score. Final decision. That is what happens without VAR.

I have a series of (probably stupid) questions.. hypothetically, when it played on for a few minutes, before our penalty was awarded, had we scored in those minutes, would VAR have been looked at for the incident? And if so, would the goal stand? Would the goal be overturned and then we'd have to score a penalty? What if it was red card scenario? Would the goal be allowed and then the opposing player be potentially sent off? Would the open play goal be allowed and a penalty awarded to make it 2-0?

Why have not seen a close up of the Lloris challenge? They can zoom in from anywhere and show if he got his ankle, but not surprisingly it wasnt shown, this happens on Citys big screen if its dubious, even Savage said it was a pen.
