Txiki Begiristain

Why is spending money always the answer? More importantly lets open up spaces in our squad and look for value in the market on up and coming players. We won the league last year, spent big and gone backwards.
thats exactly what we have been doing. Those up and coming players cost big bucks these days.

CB have been utter shit. Laporte is the only top class CB we have signed since Mark Hughes was in charge. It really is fucking poor in that department.

He is fine everywhere else

I feel many on here only rate Laporte so highly because he has been out injured so long. If he was playing every week, he'd be called shite too, a waste of money, no VVD erc etc etc

For clarity, i think he is great. just saying, out of sight, out of BM backlash!

Not everytime they don’t. We have a 60 million fullback as back up and two centre halves costing 47 and 32 million as back up. It is time to move a couple on and make space for the likes of Foden, Garcia etc to make their mark. We don't need a 60 million plus player everytime and spend big in the market when things do not go perfectly.

He's not laughing at the VVD transfer fee now.

He, Khaldoon and Soriano needto spend money and to buy the right players this Summer to make a serious PL and CL challenge next season.

When you win the League you need to kick on and buy absolute quality at top drawer prices or take a punt on someone below £10M. It's often too risky to gamble on mid-range players.
Mancini got us Yaya, Dave and Sergio, then wanted to push on with Hazard, De Rossi etc but wasn't backed.

Txiki gambled on Stones developing, rather than buying VVD and that has cost us dear and strengthened our rivals. Txiki does a reasonable job but given our unlimited resources we should have closed in on the Champions League yet we are still a way off. A big summer for him this year.

To be fair, Txiki has done good job largely but that is very good point. Its 2020 we look miles off winning the UCL and he arrived in 2012. By now we should be genuine contenders for it year on year.

To replace Vinny we need to spend more £60 million. Also we spunked a load on Rodders who is just about the slowest player we have.

Bullshit, scousers have one worldy van d and one top class Robertson. Crucially they have 3 sitting midfielders who are all mobile enough to help out the back four.

Following the policy you advocate in your final paragraph would’ve landed us bog standard stopper maguire for £80m
We won't sign a player for £8m from Hull and Garcia is still not playing in front of otamendi

Txiki has to be clever this summer. we might spend 150m net or even more but those signings have to be fucking good. I mean good enough to walk into the starting line up and provide an improveent.

Not like Cancelo, Mendy who cost us over 100 and they arent even first choice..

A lot pending on Real Madrid games, if we lose that tie the pressure will be much bigger on Pep to deliver next year. A shit PL with 25-30 points off the top with a very early CL exit is not something that Khaldoon wants to talk about in his end of season interview. "But we did well in Carabao"....

Garcia isn’t playing in front of Nico for the same reason that Foden isn’t playing in front of Silva - they aren’t good enough

Just out of interest how do they become good enough? Was Gomez and TAA good enough when they first walked into the side?
