Police aggression towards football fans

Good I hope he's kicked out and prosecuted, if any member of the public attacked another like that it would be GBH, sorry if you felt I was getting on your case, I wasn't, I just don't like seeing people behave that way when in a supposed position of "protect life".

That was pure "oh football supporter = deserves it", its a disgraceful attitude that I've witnessed far too often, here and abroad, the best policing of football fans I've witnessed is in Germany, and over several decades, for the most part they always try to calm things down, but if it doesn't they will eventually go in hard, but generally they control it well.
No worries. Unfortunately every walk of life has it's idiots and the Police are no exception.

I did say very few things. If he was about to stab someone, then yes could probably justify it as saving life. However he clearly isn't about to stab someone so that justification has gone. As other poster said, aim for arm, hand wrist, or tell him to drop knife and get on floor if has one.

Obviously somethings happened beforehand, but as an officer you still have to act professional even in the face of provocation, and that on that evidence didn't look very professional.
Which is the main problem I have with people calling for him to be lynched, the lack of evidence.

Dont think this thread should become a focus on @exiled-blue who has been open to say he is a police officer and just as open and quick to condemn the officer and his actions.

He doesnt answer for every police officer in the country anymore than we do as fans for the idiots that attend football matches.

Hopefully the police sack this officer and for me he should also face charges.

You would fucking hope that recruitment selection 7 retention processes are in place to eliminate the possibly of giving a physco a fucking weapon to walk round UK streets beating the shit out of whoever he pleases with the protection of a uniform though. Although in reality the cops will cover up like they also do. Its why you''re in a profession with as little respect as politicians these days sadly.

That's not the case in general if you think that someone is in imminent danger of being stabbed and life is at risk then you can use reasonable force which can be a lethal blow to the head or being shot.
A smack to the (knife) hand is far more likely to prevent somebody stabbing somebody else than a blow to the head. You can't guarantee a blow to the head will incapacitate somebody and you can't guarantee it won't kill them. You can guarantee you'll incapacitate their hand with a good sharp blow to it and it's also non-lethal.

I've been nicked all over the UK so have plenty of experience outside Manchester. Although Manchester has it's moments. Battered in Bootle St and Longsight nick for a start. The football stuff a whole different story.

Put on remand in Torquay police station for a week aged just 18 for nicking a fucking glass from a hotel (charged with burglary the ****s)
Escorted to the train station by Dibble and told never to go back. Fitted up on loads of stuff I hadn't done.

Battered at loads of away grounds or left to fend for yourself with cops laughing at you for going there.
Barnsley cops laughing after they’d waded into fans under the new stand. Kids etc injured.

When you need police help what do you get? fuck all.

You simply do what you can, neither are right or wrong.
As exiled blue blue it is very hard to justify a baton strike to the head.
