While not wanting to defend the Guardian, it's not just in their comments section that the anti City trolls ply their trade, almost every City article with a comments section is infested with them, no matter how anodyne the article.
The Fail have even stopped City fans biting back by banning posts, every City article is now infested with rags and victims, and where usually you'd have City fans replying there's nothing now. Very strange.

The Secret Footballer (who wrote in the Guardian) said he was given one rule when he began writing for them, "Don't upset Liverpool fans".

The Guardian for some reason has an overwhelming Liverpool following, which over the last few years has made commenting on any City article virtually pointless. That's not a slight on Liverpool fans, but they dominate so much that you get the same kind of crazy comments you seen on any fan only site (including this one) - where everyone has their tinted specs on, and has ten people to back them up whatever the merits of the point they've just made.

Ironically, I saw the Secret Footballer quote in the comments section, and the person who shared it was piled on by Liverpool fans calling them a liar and worse - this despite the fact that they'd provided a link to the Secret Footballer saying the exact quote.

I think most of the Guardian's digital revenues are leveraged on the back of the shrinking print advertising which they can still sell at premium rates. Without double checking the figures I think the Guardian has actually only made a profit once in the last 20 years. A lot of traffic to its website is from overseas. I know how much you like the Guardian (not) so hopefully you will share my hope that it continues to go down the pan. I actually think it is doomed as much as the tabloids are. The last one standing will be the Daily Mail which will survive by taking readers from its rivals as they slowly vanish.

The Daily Mail has (I think) the oldest readership - so time may well catch up with them too.

I've fixed your punctuation. I think it now means what you wanted to say. ;-)

Not playing socialist today, I think it was Harold Wilson, if memory serves, that coined that phrase. The FT doesn't have the luxury of bullshit, there's money on the line, they even started going soft on Corbyn, when they realised Boris was bonkers.
