Honestly, in that cross people keep talking about...

He doesn’t let the player get inside and orients his body so that he can’t cross to the edge of the box, and hence closer to our defenders and keeper.

It may not be ideal, but Pep has probably instructed him to defend crosses this way.

Thought his lack of pace showed for that cross he let in. Is he good enough to compensate for that lack of pace? Nowhere near. No brain, which is why he was offside repeatedly when he shouldn't be. Crap

He played the wide left role really well. Thought his crossing was amazing.

Man, talk about blink and miss a transfer. I was watching the Tottenham Leipzig Champions League game and I was like damn that fullback looks like Angelino. O’crap, it is! When did that happen?!

In any case he had an excellent game, wish we would have seen more of him although he was a bit suspect defensively when he was with us but tonight he looked really good.

Scored last night in Leipzig's 5-0 win away at Schalke.
He seems to be very happy over there.
Nagelsmann too, he rates him as a wingback and is aware of his defensive weaknesses.

Think they'll end up signing him for their £25m option if he keeps it up and, if not, sure another club will be interested in picking him up.

Still feel long term we might regret it, but as pointed out in your comment, he excelling as a LWB, rather than as a LB, which makes sense given his current defensive deficiencies. It's not worth keeping him around if we're not going to deploy 3 at the back as a long term option.

Great to see him doing so well though and I think having a good relationship with RB Leipzig going forward is only going to benefit the club - they're a talent factory with their scouting network and would be a good place to send some of our star academy players out on loan given the way they play.

Hes good as a conventional fullback.

Unfortunately we don't often play with them and he was sitting back, tucking in alot with us. He is a very good attacking LB.

He's good defensively, anyone who watched him in the CL with PSV or now for Leipzig can see that.

He struggled a bit with us because he was playing once a month, in with a CB who'd been converted to the position weeks ago, and in a system which makes him split his time between LB and CM as is really hard to learn with no game time. You end up getting caught out of position if you don't know when to make the switch back from being central to defending the left flank.

If people had given him a bit of time, he'd have been fine. Christ it was only a month ago people were saying Mendy couldn't defend for shit and now finally some people are seeing that's not true.

He's an excellent player, it's probably best for him to move on because he'll be in the Spain team before long if he keeps starting.
