we all know why they wont close schools and that the end of it,,but there is another option if your a parent and thats keep them out, do it and do it tomorrow

Part of the reluctance to shut schools will likely be due to many of those parents being medical staff. That would be a large chunk of front line staff not available. With the reasoning kids are low risk and most teachers being young and healthy. If they have to close to stop the kids being a carrier the parents will have to stay home, having gran and grandad look after them is not a reasonable solution given this virus is much more of a health risk to them. People are stuck between a rock and a hard place whatever choices they make it seems.

Having attempted to digest the press conference, it seems to me that whilst some other countries are trying to do a controlled containment, we are in fact trying to do a controlled spread of the virus.

People keep saying this and yet no one has come up with anyone of note criticising the UK government's response.
If you want direct quotes criticising the UK government’s new announcement today then you’ll have to wait a day or two.

People are referring to the many instances of guidance provided by the WHO and CDC that contradict the assessment of sporting event associated public behaviour being a low risk for viral transmission in the context of containment and/or delay of transmission in this pandemic. Or, to it put more accurately, that the risk (both health and economic) is not sufficient to outweigh the possible economic impact of prohibiting sporting events and thus reducing the associated public behaviour that may increase viral transmission.
