I think this is a fair discussion for this thread as long as it doesn’t involved attribution to particular party, official, or platform.

If we can discuss it in the abstract as you have it should stay here as it is a very real issue that will impact the current crisis.
Thanks for clarification SB.

In Spain we have imposed our measures to control the virus spread quickly firing all police, army and fiscal ammo all at once at the same time as medical measures.
Is it really just a difference in ways to treat the virus spread that the UK is doing things differently or are the Government unable or unwilling to impose a stay at home order to all?
Not saying other countries are right just wondering why UK believes more in waiting to cure rather than obvious prevention measures.
Just curious.

My wife works for the government all told to work from home last night

Servers cant cope this morning

What a mess

Dixon’s Carphone cutting 2900 jobs.

Fucking hell.

This is really bad considering those 2900 people have very little chance of finding other employment in the near future, all my clients are putting recruitment on hold for now.

Over 70s
Mr Whitty said: "This is a quite large group, of people who are over 70 (and possibly quite healthy)".

He added: "We know that older people are at greater risk but that doesn't necessarily mean that they will get it worse."

People who have a significant health condition
Mr Whitty said: "These are mainly adults we want them to take even great care. This is critical."

He said the geoup included: "People in adult life who would normally be advised to have the flu jab with chronic conditions like chronic heart disease or chronic kidney disease."

Pregnant women
Mr Whitty described this as "a precautionary measure" because "we are early in out understanding of this virus and we want to be sure, [so will include] women who are pregnant".

All the above completely correct however a simple rule of thumb, if you are in a group designated as at risk and give a seasonal flu jab consider yourself in the 12 week selfisolate group. The exception to this are children.

I work in a secondary school and we have been told to create an isolation room for students who may display symptoms or anybody that may feel unwell.

We are just waiting for the say so from government to close. Attendance is down to 80%, pregnant teachers are to stay away and some teachers are staying off because they have been in contact or feel unwell.

If schools close then it puts a massive strain on families that depend on us being open. Childcare has already been reduced with over 70s being told to stay indoors.

Unfortunately this is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Apparently there have been cases eg dengue fever where they have produced a vaccine which seemed would be effective in that they caused the body to produce antibodies. But when they were fully tested it was found that the vaccine made the disease worse.
Yep.
A vaccine that isn't tested properly can possibly lead to the bodies immune system going into overdrive and creating a Spanish Flu type response in the fit and healthy. That's why they need to be properly tested. Most untested vaccines let loose on the population would probably be useless and do nothing but they have to be sure.
