Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Just a dead horse at this point. Stop beating it. End it.

The leagues and broadcasters can negotiate a settlement. Perhaps lower payouts for the next couple of seasons. Economics from the situation will dictate this.

And that stuff seems immaterial anyway at this point. Embarrassing.

Liverpool Fans mentality " Play 2 more games to get over the line "

Fuck Top 4,fuck relegation,fuck promotions.

They think the World revolves around them.

Taking the moral high ground...... lobbying CAS to try and make sure we dont compete in next seasons Champions League.

Ignoring Morality ..... clambering over dead bodies to try and get to the Title.

This season is over.It matters not what the Premier League, and their Scouse/Rag led cartel wants. It is not going to happen in the next 3 - 6 months minimum.

This virus is only just getting started.Deaths in Spain have reached 1,000+ today with no signs of abating. Here in United Kingdom we are 4 weeks behind China.

WHO anticipates this virus will not peak until September.

UK Government is building mortuaries to store the expected thousands of dead.

Meanwhile in another dimension.................

Namely the deluded minds of Rags and Scousers they come up with insensitive proposals to play games behind closed doors.Pull front line medical professionals, and Police away from the pandemic to help get Liverpool across the line and Rags a Europa spot.

People are fucking dying whilst these fuckers worry about a game of Football.

Joint statement from the Premier League, EFL and PFA:

The Premier League, EFL and PFA met today and discussed the growing seriousness of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was stressed that the thoughts of all three organisations continue to be with everyone affected by the virus.

The Premier League, EFL and PFA agreed that difficult decisions will have to be taken in order to mitigate the economic impact of the current suspension of professional football in England and agreed to work together to arrive at shared solutions.

The leagues will not recommence until 30 April at the earliest. They will only do so when it is safe and conditions allow.

Further meetings will take place next week with a view to formulating a joint plan to deal with the difficult circumstances facing the leagues, their clubs, players, staff and fans.

Haha, They are absolutely clueless...

The rags have spoken....lifted from the Times.

Manchester United have confirmed that they would rebuff any attempts to declare the Premier League season null and void because of the coronavirus outbreak.

In a statement to supporters, the club revealed for the first time that they want the season to be completed, even though doing so would mean that their great rivals Liverpool would almost certainly win their first title in 30 years.

Dr. Eva Carneiro (former Chelsea doctor) wrote an article in the Mail that ended any chance of finishing the Premier League season today IMO.

She wrote (and linked studies proving) that professional footballers are known to have a suppressed immune system because of their contstant travelling and intense exercise every couple of days, and that there is a proven increased prevalence of upper respiratory tract infections in footballers.

There is no way in hell the players accept playing in anything other than normal, pre-pandemic conditions if they are aware that they're basically an at risk group and playing football 3x a week makes you immunosuppressed.

It completely knocks the idea touted around of just playing every other day to finish the season.

no chance of playing if that's the case

well I think Livarpool fans are taking it rather well and are goods sports about it.....especially the agenda bit !!!

I love how a week ago all the teams were on board with finishing the season regardless. And all of a sudden 1 week on - there is "growing" sentiment to abandon the league on "moral" grounds. The agendas are so so blatant.

lmao.gif

What is truly immoral is clubs and fans of clubs using a human tragedy of global scale in order to get themselves off the hook for being shite for three quarters of the current season.

All the serial losers are begging for it to be shut down and voided so they get another bite at the cherry. A free bite they do not deserve and, if football is to retain any integrity and credibility, they won't get.

The agendas are so clear and obvious. So odious, so shameful yet so predictable too.

This crisis will pass at some point. Football, like everyday life, will resume once more.
Like a game being abandoned when your 4 - 0 up and there's 15 minutes left to play - the floodlights fail, or the snow becomes impossible. The teams leading at that point will want to continue, the losing team will beat them to the changing room. At the end of the day the match is called off and the result doesn't stand. The games haven't a chance of being played with current lockdown rules in place, It's a coming together of at least 50 people in close proximity. It isn't essential and there will be an outcry if they get dispensation to test players staff etc beforehand. Top table of our national leaders has have just been taken out of the frontline. But they can carry on with business for the moment , players wont be able to do that. 1 player will take out 2 teams and background staff. Is that a price worth paying , i think not. So if the new season starts before the old one finishes, your left with the argument of finishing the last one before anything else. By which time nobody will really give a shit, players will have moved on, some my have died. Writings on the wall, season will be voided and the powers that be can argue that the potential winners were balanced out by the potential losers. They're just waiting for things to get bad enough to lend weight to their reasoning
