its crazy mate,,,trouble in my household when my daughter gets in.she went to aldi 3 hours ago,,of course she's not at aldi shes met up with her boyfreind,,how the hell do i deal with this

Know exactly where your coming from mines 15 and have had to educate her about my health issues and the implications her going out could cause.
I look back to when I was that age can honestly say I’d be down the drainpipe etc so have some sympathy as children don’t really understand it

I get the points you're trying to make @domalino, but if people are mortified over 400 deaths, then effectively telling them to get used it and saying 20,000 is a good goal isn't exactly going to make anyone feel better is it? Especially getting frustrated when clearly upset people don't enjoy hearing it. You seem a lovely, intelligent lad, but you're being a little tone 'death' here.

Hearing that tens of thousands of deaths, while spending several months away from loved ones, whilst all the time locked in a house, with less money than before, while suffering severe anxiety that they or their loved ones may pass, is actually quite a good goal, is not *ever* going to reassure the vast majority - even if it is logical. So maybe try to understand that.

What you're saying is right, technically, but people have a damn good reason to not want to hear that that is good right now. People want to hear actual good news (better treatments etc), not *only* tens of thousands may die! It's not fair of you to expect people to go 'okay, that's good then!' mate. I actually know you mean well too. Just saying as its something to consider, for many others on here too.
Nothing is going to make "anyone feel better" mate. It's a shit situation. Really fucking shit. And it's going on in countries all over the world.

It's a serious fucking situation (and has been for at least 2 months although many are only just waking up to it. If you think that's unfair or you can't take it, then don't click on the thread bud. This isn't a safe space. This is a discussion thread for (likely) the worst pandemic in the last 100 years. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of great news at the minute. My best mate is married to an anaesthetist and we had a facetime chat today, the poor woman comes home and cries for a couple of hours after each shift at the moment and he has to listen from the spare room as they are distancing to help protect him as he's got diabetes. It's horrendous and there's no sugar coating it. Lots of people are going to die, but if the figure is around 20,000 then it will have been a minor miracle. The US are looking at 100-200k "if they do everything perfectly" according to their top medical bod. (They aren't doing everything perfectly).

On average people die 18.5 days after being infected.

That means we are still 9 days away from the Pub friday and Mothers day numbers, but Cheltenham and Anfield would have hit already.
That's flawed logic I'm afraid mate.

The people infected at those events may indeed have either died or recovered by now (or at least be active cases), but that is relatively small numbers. The issue is that they went on to infect others, who went on to infect others, who went on to infect others etc etc etc. And those people are still out there, yet to fall ill.

So all those events will have done is to make the peak - whenever it comes - higher.

Ha ha I actually have half a box. I haven't used it in donkeys years and had forgotten I had it until this kind of mad max scenario started. At close range to the head it could kill you, the problem is I have to reload after every shot, lol.

At least if the food runs out you can go rabbit hunting down clay lane:)

At the risk of sounding like a massive hypocrite ( I have just been out on my break as working from home, and have a big dog who needs to do a lot of poos ) but I can’t believe how many picnicks I’ve walked past, people in groups of over 6 people. And for the last year I’ve hardly seen anyone on my usual dog walk now everyone local is a walking fanatic. All good if they’re observing the space warnings but people don’t seem to be. It’s crazy how when you tell people to do something the reaction seems to be to go against the instructions

The problem I have is she doesn’t drive so have to pick her up after every shift and take her, so isolating is pointless

You'd still have peaks if those people got infected. We've been over this a lot but if the Anfield game was a breeding ground then there would be a massive death peak in Liverpool 19 days later. If 5000 people got infected in that game, yes, they would spread it, but there'd also be 50 deaths in Liverpool 19 days later.

When she gets in, say her Mum has been rushed to hospital in an ambulance and that no-one can visit, and that you're worried sick.

And when the crying stops, tell her how lucky she is that this is not yet the case, and to stay the fuck indoors in future.
