Over 550 deaths in the uk in the last 24hours and yet football authorities all over still trying to find ways to continue the season, absolutely disgusting and should be ashamed that all they are interested in is chasing the money !

This this and only this, footballs governing bodies should be ashamed, football at the moment is totally irrelevant.

I don't know the figures but it seems to me that football clubs pay vast amounts in wages, much greater than any other "normal" business.

If the majority of expenditure is on players wages, players who are millionaires currently sat around doing fuck all, then furlough the players? So if an average players wage Is say £500,000 a month and the government scheme pays them £2500 a month then the club will save many millions of pounds.

Why should the tax payer pay them a penny?
If anyone should be able to ride it out it’s people on at least tens of thousands of pounds a week previously.

My mum spent her last days in the Vic in 2012 and we weren't exactly happy at the care she received. Liverpool Care Pathway was in use at the time, it was officially scrapped in 2014.

It's still my local hospital but if I do get the virus I'm going to try and get through it at home without venturing near that place!

It shows how bad things are when politicians are taking the moral high ground with the football clubs and authorities.

At last someone in authority is opening their mouth.
It wont be long before it turns in to a tsunami of hatred towards the football authorities.
I will give it a few days before they are backed into a corner and are forced into making the only decision that is acceptable to most decent people

What! They earn millions, a little help with other peoples wages doesnt do no harm and actually does a lot of good. You are seriously happy to see low paid staff lose their jobs whilst some footballers earn £1m a month!? It's a time for helping, not greed surely?
Players are entitled to help out if they want to much the same I am allowed to help out if i want or don't want to, clubs shouldn't be so fucking badly run they need to stop other peoples wages to pay others.

Why should Kane be putting his hand in his pocket when Levy has just banked 7m, ultimately the responsibility for these wages is down to him.

No one should be losing their jobs but premier league clubs should have enough money in the bank to pay their staff, if they don't then the FA might want to start investigating where all the money is going. Every club in the premier league basically makes more than all the other top clubs in Europe. If clubs aren't prepared for any sort of incident then that is down to the management, perhaps for example Newcastle should think twice about dropping 40m on players if they can't afford to pay their staff if shit hits the fan.

EDIT; It's a time for helping, not greed surely?
Yes it is, so maybe football clubs should put their hands in their pockets and pay the people they should be. They are happy to skim all the BT and Sky money from the fans and staff who work for them but wont pay their fucking wages. Its a disgrace.

Footballers dont deserve to be paid anymore than the staff but they will be because clubs cant afford the legal battle.

they were given contracts.

it’s the responsibility of those who gave them the contracts to have safeguards for their businesses in place and not on the shoulders of the players.

I find it quite disgusting that anyone would suggest making anyone doing anything with their money. Hand out socialism at its best. If players want to help someone, that’s their own choice and I’m sure almost all of them are in some ways.

Kane should be helping because its people who are losing their jobs, people at his club, colleagues.

Because the club is poorly run or the owners are shite doesnt exempt players from being charitable, helping out by taking a pay cut, like Barca. I dont see what is wrong with that... except that someone said "They should take a pay cut" . I do agree with that though.

Think contracts stop that and it has to be by agreement.

Totally agree with who's responsibility it is. Nothing wrong with players being charitable though. I do hope City are first to set an example in this country and start to help those in their club who are losing their jobs.
