Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

This is from the BBC and perhaps shows why the league hasn't been called off...……….

Training grounds have been mentioned as potentially hosting games, although it is difficult to work out how this would be a safer environment than stadiums, which, evidently, are built to host matches that, by definition, need to be broadcast in order to avoid the £750m repayment to TV companies that would be triggered by a failure to complete the current season.

That is 39 mill for each club to pay back.

There is currently around 75 000 new cases worldwide each day, this is not going away anytime soon and we’ll be lucky if football is back being played before what would be the start of next season

Premier League club 'suggests possibility of finishing current season in China following their positive steps towards recovery from coronavirus' as top-flight prepares for showdown talks in bid to salvage campaign

Got to be an April fool ...which team is behind this crackpot idea !

I think the idiots trying to get football resumed in England should read Patrick Viera's remarks on the ESPN web site. "Offensive to talk about football at this time ..............................................."

Kami is on sky saying everyone wants the season finished in answer to kay burley asking just what do the dippers have to do to win the title

You can just picture the scenario.

All European leagues have ended their season, null and void, playing it safe and being sensible.

Meanwhile in England it's early July and for the last 3 months the premier league have been down every avenue to try and finish the 9 games left of a piss poor advertisement of a season.
Elsewhere the Italian, Spanish, German, Dutch, French and Portuguese leagues have had a nice break and are preparing for pre season preparations for the forthcoming 2020/2021 campaigns.

Belgium are awarding their leader the championship.

I can think of only two clubs who the desperation to see the league season completed by the premier league,fa,media and tv companies,if it was any of the other 18 clubs it would be null and void by the time we got to end of April ..
The two clubs with the most influence, as far as we can tell. Let's see what happens eh.
