Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

All the best pal. My wifes friend is a heart nurse, a few weeks before this she asked to reduce her hours to 2 days a week ready for retirement. Yesterday she sent my missus a photo of her being trained for frontline Covid shit. She looks like an Apollo 11 crew member, huge plastic face mask and underneath a paper type mouth/nose mask plus a full body suit. She will not be retiring any time soon...….
But also she was a specialist heart nurse....if she isn't there to treat them …… and yet they want to play football in a few weeks.
Without any vaccine, its a case of how well your body can resist the virus. Anyone in public circulation is exposed to it.Medical staff obviously seeing more infected people so risks are higher even if they are suited and booted, it'll get through eventually. All we can do is follow instructions of isolation and washing hands etc etc. If we don't and we get swamped at the hospitals, the doctors will take the treat , not treat options. A bit like the medic on the beach in the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan. Although they say exercise is good for you and recommended, you can do a lot in your home or garden if you have one. All these runners and power walkers are doing my crust in , as are the drive and exercise brigade. Although they've kept it to a 5 min drive and exercise/walk the dog i think they've let a bit of the pressure off. We need to lock down tighter. Plenty of people who are thinking its a loss of freedom or their rights are being eroded. People obviously bending the rules are threatening the lives of everyone . Deaths seem easy to calculate if 3 % get seriously ill and 80% of the hospitalised patients die. I've got to say that although the Doctors , nurses are frontline, the staff in supermarkets, bus drivers, posties, delivery drivers deserve a lot of credit. If my daughter gets drafted from her lab to front line care, i thinkk the stress levels will be going up a few notches. 3 or 4 have now died in our 'friend of friend' contacts

Thing is can’t see there being a next season so we have till August 2021 to finish this season!

most clubs would kick up a right storm if that was to happen, efl clubs would be giving up 46 games of revenue streams for the sake of 9 or 10, clubs will be going to the wall left right and centre, but at least we kept the integrity intact

I think Klopp and LFC want the Athletico result overturned, their seems to be a lot of press now going into over drive on that.
So dont be surprised for a re start to the prem and possible replaying of that match?
I think it was pretty stupid to allow 3000 fans to travel from Madrid when Madrid was becoming a hot spot and it was just before they closed all the schools. The Madrid fans would certainly accelerated the spread on Merseyside. That said , it made no difference to the outcome of that tie. They have no claim whatsoever for a replay. Its a moot point because there is no chance of that competition being finished but i guess calls from some quarters for that to be considered show the warped thinking of some out there in fantasy land

I literally haven’t seen anyone say they think that result should be overturned. Odd thing to make up?

Sky Sports and BT Sport will ask the Premier League for the right to broadcast more matches next season than is permitted under the terms of their contract. Sky currently get 128 live games each season and BT 52, but both want to show more to regain customers.

@MailSport

This was always going to be high on list of options going forward if season declared ended with not being completed. Avoids forfeiture payments from PL and Clubs to TV rights holders. Enables customers to stay on contracts knowing get additional live games for 2020/21 included within contract. BT and Sky could even use additional games included in 2020/21 as negotiating stance to include new amount of games within any new contracts too. Removes uncertainty within clubs. Enables possible earlier resolution date for this season to end. Maybe consolidates majority of PL clubs to vote for season to end as null and void. Still have to resolve EFL situation. Possible option would be to have payments to all clubs who could have mathematically been promoted sharing pot of compensatory monies based on likelihood with current x top 2 receiving highest amount? With no relegation there are no parachute payments? Maybe these can be reallocated/distributed to all other championship, league 1 and 2 clubs too
