Scariest away day following City

Not sure if already mentioned.... Saturday, December 19th 1998. York away, need I say more? 15 million city fans all trying to get in that tiny ground. I know we were all there but that was the day I truly feared for my life, claustrophobia doesn’t begin to describe it!
The charlton game in ‘85 must’ve ran it close? good job there was “only” 47,000 on eh?? ;)

Leeds In the FA Cup in the 70’s on both occasions. However we had a big support with us and gave out as good as we got.
Never liked going to Scouseland, always thought that as soon as you stepped out of Lime Street, people were staring at you.
Bradford away when we got promoted, kicked off big style in Manningham Lane.

Saw a mob of blues and Sheff u fans having a right brawl in 1984 outside the away end. Went with my mate and his dad, sat in the home stand, we wanted to stay and have a look from a distance but his dad wanted us in the ground, lol.

I was at Bradford away and didn't have a problem. I was in the stand that got rebuilt after the fire. Frank Newton of the banana's craze getting me a ticket and membership which you needed to get in. The Blue's who went into their end behind the goal though were attacked and were getting leathered until they fought back and backed Bradford off. The only friction in our end was some pissed up half wit Blue taking the piss out of the fire on the concourse at half time. Their main man and his mates were justifiably angry but the half wits own mates took him to task and it calmed down.

Although not part of the violence itself, cos we were locked in the ground for over an hour after the final whistle, Millwall away in 97/98 had to be seen to be believed. A full blown riot had left the place looking like Beirut, and there were still pockets of little dickheads trying to get at us as we were given a police escort back to the station at quarter to 11 at night!
What made me laugh was when the train got back to London Bridge there were two lines of cops in full riot gear with batons drawn waiting for us as if we'd been causing the trouble.

Gotta admit thought that was it when they all came screaming down them stairs at London Bridge after the game when we got off the train from New Cross
City certainly went for them, I was only 17 thought I was dead tbh
Chaos !!!

I was 18. Remember it well. They were game I’ll give em that cos there were a lot of City on that platform after the train pulled in and don’t remember there being too many of them coming down the steps. Maybe 30 or so. Might have been more though.

I was in the Main stand at Bradford that day..can remember looking to my left at terrace behind the goal when it kicked off as you described...a fairly large group of City had bunched together in the top left hand corner of the terrace...and this group became isolated as the home fans backed off around them after City started fighting back....that day was mental, lots going off .
