Have City bought any real bargains?

We rarely profit on a player though, do we? Was money made on Nasri or Jovetic?
Why would we want to profit on players? We could have easily sold Kompany, Zaba, Aguero, Silva, etc., at their height and made millions, but what’s the point? You play football to win, not to talk about how much profit your club makes.

If you want profit, let’s reverse the clocks and sell our star player to Chelsea.

Kompany was outstanding in his debut v West Ham. Everyone was buzzing that we’d found a player. And he was in midfield at the time.

If...If...Only.............

We could be today, speaking of the mangler after his home debut v chelsea, in the same terms......

Going back a bit Neil McNab gave us pretty good service for a few years for next to nothing. Tolmie, Parlane and Smith of that era all did ok for little or no output. Billy Mc had an eye for a scottish bargain.
Tiatto cost about £300k and Carlo Nash about £100k iirc, both decent buys by Royle.
Most recently Zinchenko came in for a low fee and couldve been shipped out for a decent fee if he wanted to go but stayed and now has a cabinet full of medals. A number of signings we seem to buy not to play but to shift on like Mooy, Unal etc were good financial investments.

No disrespect to Wolfsburg and Roma but City require more from a striker. A club with our ambitions don’t build a team around a player like Dzeko. Lewandowski might have been a better idea. He cost Dortmund pennies from Poznan.

Which is an argument I would accept if his replacement was Wilfred fucking Bony!

Ian Bishop - the second coming - think we may even have got him on a free second time.

He was sublime at Wembley in the play off final, and also ran the promotion game at Blackburn the next season when everyone was losing their heads shitting themselves. An incredible passer of the ball amongst the dross quality of the lower leagues.

We don't buy players to profit on them, that's why. Clubs in the lower half of the table or clubs who have owners driven by taking money out of the business. Joventic had a nightmare with injuries and Nasri paid back his transfer fee with 2 leagues and other trophies - we bought him at 24 and he left at 30, hardly designed to make profit...

Ever? Not just within the incumbent ownership. Did you have to look up how much Nasri was sold for? I genuinely wouldn’t have known... Besides, every player has their price. Ronaldo left both United and Madrid. Perhaps they’re not as big as City.

Kompany, Silva, Barry, Clichy, Hart, Zaba, Yaya, Aguero and KDB.

Sane and Sterling probably both up there also in terms of their return and what their value will be if they moved on.
