Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Thing is, they can call all the meetings they want, discuss and set dates for restarting the season, make arrangements to play behind closed doors and work on a 40 day completion timescale.. and feel quite smug with themselves, thinking that they are in control..!

It means fcuk all..!

The Government will decide what's going to happen..!!

The PL, SKY, BT, the media, the Dippers and their band of nauseous ex players and uncle Tom Cobley an' all have got no f"kin say in the matter..!

The arrogant twats..!

The Premier League believes it can finish the 92 remaining fixtures in a window of less than 40 days, according to "possible scheduling models" presented to clubs today. [

Premier League clubs have discussed resuming the season on the weekend of 13-14 June. UEFA wrote to domestic associations stating they should finish competitions by 31 July to leave August clear for the completion of the Champions League and Europa League.

Best-case scenario - #PL: - "Pre-season” from 10 or 14 May - Four weeks for players to regain fitness - Minimum preparation time set at two weeks - Players training individually or in small groups to ensure best protection before working together as normal.

Uefa want the Champions League and Europa League to recommence from the week of Monday 3rd August, with the final of the former being staged on Saturday 29th August and that of the latter to be played a few days before.

The Premier League are conscious of a 'worst-case scenario' given the unpredictability of coronavirus and how long it may take to tackle it. The pessimistic view is that no football can resume until October, seven months after the last round of matches.

The FA have won a battle with the Premier League after receiving assurances that the FA Cup will NOT be sacrificed to make way for league games should the season resume later this summer. The rescheduled campaign will climax with the FA Cup final at Wembley. [

Sky Sports have no plans to use canned crowd noise or to generate fake fans through CGI technology to enhance their Premier League coverage when matches return behind closed doors. [

The fitness of players is going to be a problem and lack of fitness may lead to injuries.

In my opinion the season will get concluded, but not until later in the year September/October and that means I don't think we will see the start of next season until 2021 personally. Maybe the leagues shift to a calendar year season?

Have never been sure why that wasn't done in the first place tbh.
A Winter end of season ? I think that's something nobody would want. That's why it's never been done.

So a quick summary :
FA - we want to continue £
Premier League - we want to continue ££
Uefa - we want to continue £££

Each club should have a logo with an ostrich head in the sand.
