Dave Bacuzzi RIP.

I was at the Reading game having bunked off school (this is turning into York away), I'd forgotten Dave was playing for Reading. I remember him as a decent defender in the days just before we became brilliant, a team with players like Matt Gray and John Murray who I thought were top quality at the time.
Don’t you mean Jim Murray?

I remember Dave Bacuzzi well. He looked ok but didn’t have quite the quality I would have expected from someone coming from Arsenal. Nevertheless he looked solid and reliable

When Mercer and Allison came in, Dave was soon sidelined. I suppose they didn’t really play with traditional fullbacks and preferred wing halves like Bobby Kennedy and Stan Horne in the fullback positions.

A couple of years later City won the First Division championship with Tony Book (a sweeper) and Glyn Pardoe (midfielder) in the fullback positions.

I don’t remember Dave playing in the match at Reading although I was there sitting a the wall at the back talking to a Swindon fan from Newbury as the goals went in.

Very sad to read of the death of one of my teenage sports heroes when he managed and played in a great Cork Hibernians side. Wonderful memories from a golden era of Cork football. A nice tribute here.

Saw him play many times for Hibs back in the day. An elegant player and a fine manager. They had some great players then too; Davenport, Wiggie, Sweeney and of course Miah Dennehy who I played with in a charity match years later. Nice tribute. Great daze...;)

Never scored but 59 games for us and played his part in our promotion in 66

Probably seen most of his appearances for City as I didn't miss many games in them days, recall he was a classy player.

I loved his hair style and was fascinated with scribbling his name on my school books.

RIP.
